Ronin Da Bomb May 2, 2003, 23:09 How Could They managed To Keep It A Secret Since 1998 When They Started On It????

For your information I already serviced him in private...
PooperScooper May 3, 2003, 21:31 wow, those screens are impressive. Your gonna need one powerfull puter for this game.
Any chance off this hitting the Xbox... hmmm maybe but does anybody no fore sure?
I'm too excited by the recent update of "Day of Defeat" for the original half life engine to have time to worry about HL2. Though i do have time to worru about being able to upgrade my computer in time to be able to play it...
Ronin Da Bomb May 8, 2003, 11:19 It May Well B Out On Time - Bare In Mind theyve Been Workin On this Since 1998, Thats 5 YEARS!!!!
As For The XBox, Its Almost Certain To Hit PS2 And XBox Too, Gamecube Also Looks Likely
cool thats damn good news...
PooperScooper May 8, 2003, 18:12 If you guys thing half-life2 looks impressive you should see doom3 screenshots. holy fuckaroo!!!
Ronin Da Bomb May 9, 2003, 08:41 No, I Mean Comeon, I Was Really Lookin Forward To Doom 3, But This Looks Just As Good Visually, And It Dont Need A Super Computer To Run It, Unlike Doom III. We All Thought The End Of The Year Would Belong TO Doom, But I Think HL2 Is Gunna Steal Its Thunder......
tetsuru May 10, 2003, 00:48 more HL2 screens (http://www.shacknews.com/screens.x/half_life_2/Half-Life+2)
yea doom 3 looks fecking amazing. i Dled the demo that was at E3 off of the net and i bout creamed my shorts. shadows/bump mapping/sounds. every thing was nothing short of amazing even at that early stage.
tonystarks May 30, 2003, 13:59 Holy fuck ass! I've only just finished the first one. Got it cheap for the PS2 and shelved it? Put it on a month back and got right stuck into it. Cant fuckin wait now!
Joda Cast Jun 3, 2003, 09:11 Half-Life 2 is on for Xbox, so is Counter Strike, so is Doom3.
Doom3 Alpha leak looks great, three levels of claustrophobic beauty. Slightly worried that the game will be just corridors, dumb enemies and key/lock puzzles though.
Has anyone seen the e3 playable Halo2 level??? now THAT looks awesome! The marines can drive the Warthog now, plus theres a nice GTA effect Master Chief can pull off on the vehicles :)
Ronin Da Bomb Jun 3, 2003, 23:24 Yeh, But Halo - Whereas LOOKED Great, Just Got Too Repetative For Me And had A Totally Shite Storyline
Half-lifes Story Was The Best
Squalion Jun 3, 2003, 23:28 I never saw what the big deal was with Halo. Just another shite Xbox game albiet more fun than the other, shiter-than-shite Xbox games.
Joda Cast Jun 4, 2003, 14:01 half-life had a great story line? lol what was half-lifes storyline? escape the lab from the aliens and the marines, then go the homeworld to kill more of them.
Thats it.
Its a shame you haven't completed Halo, Ronin . It actually has a great plot, proper characterisation, two fantastic plot twists and a spin off novel that entered the New York Times Bestseller list "Halo: The Fall of Reach".
Half life has fantastic level design and a great varience of enemies and their corresponding AI (Apart from the last few alien levels.... which are totally crap). Half-life Opposing Force mission pack is also excellent.
Play Halo on legendry and you'll see it has currently the best enemy AI in a FPS. The squad AI is astounding, plus the enemies dyanmic awareness of level artifacts is gobsmacking. Destroying an alien hover tank, then watching the aliens use it as cover is fucking great. Somewhere in their ai they are aware of the environment around them, when the tank was destroyed, they know where it is and can hide around it out of your line of fire.
Half-life 2 is gonna be GREAT, its gonna need a bitch of a machine but its gonna be great. Doom 3 has not impressed me as much as Half-life2. The doom3 alpha was just corridors and corridors, the promo movies have been that too. half-life2s evirons looks fucking great and its aliens striaight out of StarShip Troopers and War of the Worlds.
Half-Life 2, Halo 2 and Thief 3. :)
Doom3 maybe...
Ronin Da Bomb Jun 6, 2003, 00:58 Few Things
1. I Have Completed Halo
2. Ive Done It On Legendry
3. Half-Life Storyline With The G-man Responsable For The Enitre Outbreak, but Managing To Secretly Contain It And Ur Not Quite Sure Of The Full Story Till The End
4. Half Life Has The Better Ending
5. Half Life has The Better 'Hero'
6. Half-life has Far Better Atmos With The Music
Joda Cast Jun 6, 2003, 11:39 Half-lifes music? You only hear that poppy dance synth stuff a few times in the game! its passable but but not as good as Halo's. Halo's music has won many industry awards with enough recognition to be released as an independant soundtrack : http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000067UO7/qid=1054896899/sr=8-13/ref=sr_8_13/102-0549207-3616160?v=glance&s=music&n=507846
Half lifes ending is the confirmation of a piss poor spooky coverup storyline ending on a shit cliff hanger after putting you through the four previous crappest levels in any game. Half-life has a great evolving mystery, what is Halo? Who are the aliens? who are the flood? plus the twists.... half-life has plot twists??
Half lifes "hero" is the possibly the worst in any fps. the game gave him no characterisation, no humanity, nothing. You play as a "nerd with a gun" one of the press releases stated. This put MANY people off buying the game!! Half-Life for Dreamcast was gonna remodel your character as a beefy guy without the glasses so as to attract more people. Luckerly the strength of the game itself plus the lack of any real competition ensured its commercial success.
Ronin Da Bomb Jun 7, 2003, 01:17 Well I Prefered Halflifes Music And Story/ending/hero
Each to His Own.......
deux ex ownz them both, probably the best storyline ive ever seen, topped with amazing interaction and versitility
fuckign beautiful
Squalion Jul 6, 2003, 18:20 Half life's hero was well cool, scientist on a mission killing people like marines supposedly tougher than him, gordon freeman = teh sex.
'what are the flood? or the aliens?' - crappy, childish monsters with shit voices that look crap.
Halo = 2 weapons at a time, crappy star trek shit, small range.
Half-life = wide variety of realistic and futuristic weapons
Halo story = go here, kill some shit, go there, kill some shit, repeat
Half life story = best in any fps ever, break out of a lab, escape from the military, travel to an alien planet etc etc
Halo = dull repetitive atmosphere
Half life = varying, deep, tense atmosphere
Halo = stupid xbox controller
Half life = keyboard/mouse
the only thing HL lacks is a team to back you up, but then again it wouldnt fit into the storyline.
Halo's music = FPS's dont need/desire music, it spoils the atmosphere
halo multiplayer - 4 people on one screen
HL multiplayer - 32 on 32 screens
hl > halo
Ronin Da Bomb Jul 6, 2003, 19:50 lol, I Concur
tonystarks Jul 7, 2003, 15:23 Have you all forgot about time splitters 2?
Hows that for a size of a game? Best FPS I've played!
Ronin Da Bomb Jul 10, 2003, 17:48 Nah, Only Thought The Multiplayer Was Alrite
Kormiic Jul 10, 2003, 22:45 Timesplitters 2 is "the daddy"
