How come no-one lists the usage of Newsgroups for MP3 downloading?

All the file sharing proggies (Kazza, Morpeus, et al) are in my opinion not worth the effort. You either get dodgy downloading speeds or just plain shite rips. Only benefit to 'em is the newness of files, kinda.

So I gave up on p2p stuff and switched back to good old fashioned newsgroups. (and did you know every Window$ user has a free newsgroup reader in the form of Outlook Express?)

Find the newsgroup logon protocols from your ISP and piff-paff-poof you have access to 30,000+ groups - mostly of good old fashioned pr0n - but several very good mp3 groups.

In OEx, all you do is download the newsgroup listing and search for the alt.binaries.sounds.mp3...... and browse through the current uploads.

My favourites that I check out everyday are: alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.dance a.b.s.m.new-age a.b.s.m.1980s and a few others.

Most of the mp3's are super quality and you tend to get full albums - and best of all, if you ask nicely someone may post your requests.

So dump your lame-ass p2p shite and get down to the good old fashioned newsgroups.

used to look at newsgroups instead of classifieds,
motorcycle purchase, his & hers, of course.

newsgroups are really for online gamers,
cut the bait or fish,
mp3's, newsgroups, to be honest, errrr

whenever i do a google search, i allways check the groups tab, that way, you get a bulletin board of info.

I've tried NGs, but there are a few reasons I don't like 'em, which, because I have no life, I will now list:

1. It's hard to find a specific song, whereas when using WinMx, for example, you can usually find it instantly.

2. You can request a specific song on NGs, but if you do:
(a) you have to wait for somebody nice enough to take the time to post it, and...
(b) that post may never come

3. A lot of time the bitrate of posted songs is not listed, so you take a gamble... and wind up getting something that sounds like it's being played through a tin can.

4. Songs are usually broken up into a lot of different posts, which you have to combine and decode...
(a) which is too much work.
(b) and because they're broken up, there's a possibility the songs will be incomplete (especially if you have a shitty server like EARTHFUCKINGLINK!!).

-- So basically, that's why I'm sticking to P2P.
