Windows xp home.
Just installed a pioneer DVR-105 dvd writer and can't get nero to copy anything that's copyrighted.Has anyone sorted a patch to by-pass the copyright problem yet

I haven't tried them personally (no DVD/RW), but I'd suggest giving a few the utils on this web site a try.

Let us know how / if they work.

I've got just the solution for you and I'd advise you to get it while you can

The program is called DVD Shrink and is downloadable from the downloads page on
http://www.doom9.org/

There's a guide on how to use it on

http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink2-main.htm

It's free (at the moment)
There has been talk of the author selling it.

You'll also need a recent update of Nero as some of the older versions have problems burning dvd video's

There's more to copying dvd's than just running it through nero and DVD shrink is an excellent piece of software for doing the donkey work. Although you still need burning software as DVD Shrink prepares the files for copying but won't burn the files to dvd for you.

I'm assuming it's video dvd's you want to copy?

If you want to read up on DVD ripping there's an excellent site called
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/
the doom9 site is excellent also

The DVD shrink program is barely 400k in size but the multi language download is just over 1mb.

please note that virtually all dvd films come on dvd's that are multi-layered and hold anything up to 8.6gb. Blank dvd's only hold 4.3gb so in a lot of cases the dvd needs to be compressed and added features removed. DVD Shrink will do this.

I'd advise anyone who is considering buying a dvd burner in the future to download this program

You'll not be sorry.

I ended up with loads of corrupted dvd's before this program came out.

Before dvd shrink, the only free way to do it took about 4 different packages and compression and calculation time of about 4 hours on an Athlon 2200. Never mind the time it took to burn the dvd's

I've downloaded a trial version of the new 'clone dvd' and it works brilliantly on onprotected dvd's but wont copy protected ones.I now need a way to rip the dvd to a file for copying without the copy protection. Can't find a download for dvd shrink.

There's a download for it here. I just tried it and the link seems to work.
