Star of 1960's comedy series "The Beverley Hillbillies" Buddy Ebsen has died aged 95, it has been revealed.

Buddy, who played Jed Clampett in the series which used to regularly reach 60 million viewers weekly had been in hospital since last month in intensive care with an undisclosed illness.

The Beverley Hillbillies was the story of Jed Clampett and his family, a backwoods farming family who struck oil on their land and became instantly rich. The story took up when they moved to Beverley Hills and tried to come to terms with the lifestyle of the rich that they found themselves in.
