The Clubkid

Music is my drug of choice,
It flows through my veins aside the blood that keeps me alive,
Each as important as the other,
It hits every nerve in turn,
Searching for the way out,
Dancing is its release,
My release,
Maybe I will never claim to be good at it,
Still, I take my artform very seriously,
The dancer is no mere musical pawn,
He is an intrinsic part of the creation,
As important as any instrument or as the DJ who feeds his hunger,
They are all a part of the culture,
And our culture is self sustaining,
From the clubkids and the ravers,
Who dance religiously every weekend or more,
Through to the artists who drive the whole scene,
A night clubbing is metaphorical to the way we are,
We are the music,
We don’t stop,
We don’t give up,
Life is music,
May the music never end.

Beautifully expressed, Bungee.

The dancer...dancing crosses the boundaries of age.

My mother is a ClubKid. Every friday night, for the last 9 years, her and a few friends go to one of two clubs, where ever the better band is playing, and dance to country, and swing, until midnight. The men line up to dance with her. She's just recently turned 82. The beat is born for dancers, the dancer lives the beat.

She dances as smoothe as glass.

message to kormic.

Why are associating dance with pop ????

pop music is a pile of manufactured shit but there is some fucking fantastic 'Dance' music out there. you obviously dont understand the whole ideology behind most dance music but all others out there will know what i mean by saying "for the people, by the people music" sound a bit deep, bollox, i dont care. i grew up i a pretty crap neighbourhood and had a bit of a hard poverty stricken teen and early adult life (sorted now though) 'Dance' music got me through this and i am now creating some of the finest House music around, and i dont want anyone coming back saying its all just computers that make the sounds, because realistically a guitar is a bit of wood with some string on it and a drum is constant in all types of music. anyway, most of the more intelligent house music is played out live, without the use of sequencers and the like.

Dance music just seems to have no substance for me. It just seems like something some pseudo musician strung together on his Amiga 'cause he was too bored to play Metroid.

Oh mate, as you well know, the best music is the hardest to get hold of, without being prejudiced, you sound like your into certain types of rock, am i right, shit, just seen the photo, course you are.

so, imagine, some cunty band get taken on by a major record label, the next thing, they are on top of the pops playing to 1000's of 12 year olds. you think, these fuckers are giving rock a really bad image. now i dont listen to rock/metal whatever you call it, buti have listened to it and some of it is white noise, some is amazingly put together wether its hard or soft. now, the same goes for house music my friend. try listeningto Lazy Dog or Masters at Work or Acid works. you may not like it but if you listen, you will here it is very melodic and full of substance, not some twat sitting there with his Atari and Amiga 500.

And what the fuck is wrong with pop music?

So, The Beatles seemed OK.
The Carpenters could do the odd tune.
Burt Bacherach wasn't a bad writer.
The Beach Boys released a couple half decent tunes.

If you can't see the brilliance in a song like 'Careless Whisper' or 'Girls on Film' then you don't know much about music. But, of course, gnarly goatees, low-crotch jeans and a "raawwk dude" attitude are far more important than boring old things like melody, eh?

House > Pop > Country > Folk > Brass bands > raaaawkkkk.

House music destroys all.
