Anyone playing Dungeon Siege? Its one of the best RPG type games I've played since Diablo II

To be honest, I've never even heard of it.

Yeah i played it, completed it and then got bored of it. Its quite long though.

So then maybe you should be the one to expand upon what the idea, concept and otherwise pitfalls of said boringly long game is?

I never said it was boring when i played it but it has no real replayability once you have completed it there is not anything to go back for.

Well I played it completely through and I found a few things that bothered me. (Insert warning about being an "old-school RPG fan" and hating how everything with stats is now automatically an RPG of some type) First off I found it to be very very linear with no accual chance to quest beyond doing things that you would have to do to keep walking down that merry little road to the next dungeon or town. Secondly I didn't think the game was very long at all. I have happily devoted 60 to 80 hours on certain RPG's (mostly doing side quests) and the clock time on beating this was much shorter. I also found the end boss to be much easier than I had expected. Since when is an ancient evil that lame, all he did was twirl his friggin staff and summon monsters for most of the fight. I was much disappointed by this. I did however enjoy the hack & slash aspect of it but only because I didn't expect much more from the game. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed playing it but when it was all done I was left wondering where the rest of the game was.

I like how when you are in the woods. Certain ammount of trees fade away. Thats really cool.

Not sure I follow you there... are you reliving the 70's, or talking about Dugeon Seige again? The question I have about that really is, do the trees seem to fade away in block fades (ie, you notice the jump in colour as it fades away) or is it a proper smooth gradual disapparence in true texture format?

CapaC

Gradual

I've yet to see a proper smooth fade on a game. Normally things just 'disappear'.

I think Dungeon Siege has some pretty smooth fades. Do you have a good computer & video card?

Summoner on pc is an excellent game i found and at certain points in the game if you dont get stuff just right, say bye bye.I played it for about 4 nights straight ( a record for me) and was pretty impressed.Alot of exploration, sub quests and characters to meet on your travels.

No cheats unless you could be bothered to track down a trainer, so i think it is cool, cheats blow.

If your still talking about Dungeon Seige, then I heard that this game is only a mediocre follow up from Diablo II. I say mediocre, not from the graphics, which are as always exceptional, but the game play is too automated, it seems.

Yes, it's easier for new players to pick it up, but to have everything available for automatic mode (eg, automatic fighting, auto inventory pickup of dead guy, etc.) makes for a boring game. I prefer games where you can fail because you miss something, where the knowledge that YOU have that of everything works best.

Hence my liking for Chess, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter :-D The skill is not with the computer, but in my game playing abilities.

No they're talking about summoner. But I agree with you on the point of high automation. However the automation in dungeon siege was scaleable.

Well, I think the talk of Dungeon Seige has come to an end then. Posts about Summoner should be in a new thread.
