I saw an advert the other day on tv for gamecube advertising pikmen for it. The game looked quite good on the advert so i just wanna now if any of you has got the game and if its any good?

It's supposed to be a GC version of Pokemon or something.

It is one wierd game i'll admit, but it looks like it could grow on you.

Possibly, but then i've never really taken to Pokemon either, because I always found the characters were annoyingly cute and you weren't allowed to chop their heads off.

Pikmin reminds me mostly of a war game I once had and loved... but forgot the name of :(

You had to build tanks/planes and the like and moved them around in groups. The gameplay area was black and as you moved into it, it became uncovered.

Someone must have played it...

That sounds an awful lot like Star Wars Galatic Battlegrounds. Now that is one game that I truely feel in love with. Based around the old Populous style of playing it's very addictive, especially with the realistic Star Wars sounds / voices.

Pikmin is simply a puzzle game with a bit of resource management. It is very much like a strategy game Command and conquer/Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. You need to collect resources to grow more pikmin. The cute little pikmin are a bit gay but you can't help getting a bit teary eye when a load of them drown/ get eaten by monsters. There is also a 30-day time limit on completing the game. So you can't play it for 2 days put it down for a month and pickup where you started, you'll have failed the game. This isn't much of a problem because it will only take you 10-12 hours to complete.
It is an enjoyable game to play, don't know if you'll play it again after completing it.

That's what I like about Battlegrounds though, that you can reply it, and it won't be the same. Especially if you use the multi-player options.

Dave I seriously believe that if you gave a good game a chance you would be hooked for life.

The only good game I'm seriously hooked on is the one I learned when I was about ten, I play with it whenever I get the chance, and it does'nt need batterys, it's portable, and it's free! and it gets harder the more you play with it!
