Has anyone out there played Sonic Mega Collection for the 'Cube? For those who haven't the basic gist of it is that Sega has put all of the Mega Drive versions of the Sonic games on one disc, as is.

Now I'm not here to diss it (I seem to be hopelessly addicted to Sonic 3 playing Sonic only) but am I the only person that can see something wrong with using the GC as a Mega Drive emulator? (This can also apply to the Zelda disc making the GameCube NES and N64 emulators)

evidently you are. I don't understand why people object to playing old games, you wouldn't only watch films released ni the last five years? Every now and again I might feel like playing sonic the hedgehog in the exact same way that every now and again I might feel like watching a 'day at the opera'
Video games are a unique entertainmetn in that they only have a limited shelf life. Even old PC games are impossible to get even though the architecture has remained virtually unchanged for around 2 decades.

I don't object to it, I just feel it's a waste of the Gamecubes capibilities to release a disc that effectively makes it a Mega Drive emulator, thats all.

Easy way to make money. No need to write much new code so development costs are low. Id say not as much risk for the publishers as to whether it would bring in the money as well.

Id probably pay for a disc of C64 games, since I foolishly sold them all.
Still got my Amiga though :D

Its nice to play the old games now and again. I'm trying to convince my brother to get that game, as one of my mega drive controllers is dead.
