View Full Version : Greggs Is Great
DoodleBug Dec 20, 2003, 22:47 Greggs "Pie Shop" is tops.
They probably put chemicals in the products to make you crave them after a night on the lash, but hey who cares.
Yep, I have to agree with you, they are great. :)
Ronin Da Bomb Dec 21, 2003, 00:45 Always Buy Dougnuts From Their
They Do A Mean Chicken And Mango Bloomer Sandwhich Too
UnoChild Dec 21, 2003, 10:53 Greggs is great apart from the fact that the pasties are usally cold. I mean - a cold chicken pastie!!!! eeeurgh!!!
The sausage rolls are strangely addictive though.
hugo-a-gogo Dec 21, 2003, 12:14 that will be why they are used as child pacifiers by teenage mums on council estates throughout the land
AnthillMob Dec 21, 2003, 17:33 greggs is great for always being full up with BKs and their screaming snotty offspring with their hooped earrings and clown pendants....please make me stop.......i may rant for ages.........
justbecause Dec 21, 2003, 18:02 I know it's not healthy. Cheese and ham pasties and jam and cream filled finger doughnuts are great comfort food but if you eat too many you'll end up looking like a real lard arse.
A vote here for the dog rolls :)
Newvrovski Dec 22, 2003, 16:39 Wat I love about Greggs is the regional variations.
Stotties in Newcastle
Corned Beef Pasties in Wales
and deep fried Scotch Pies in Scotland
truely the best form of Globalisation

w also get these rather spanky lamb and mint things.
UnoChild Dec 24, 2003, 10:28 We also have corned beef pasties in West Yorkshire. And they are very nice indeed....
we get corned beef pasties here too :)
Van Basten Dec 26, 2003, 13:41 I've got my dinner during worktime from Greggs for nearly thee years now. I used to love the tune and sweetcorn baton rolls, but was always getting pissed off when i got a soggy roll, so after about a year i switched to cheese savoury with bacon rolls. I fucking love em. I also have a steak bake or sausage roll to accompany it and wash it down with a pint of milk. Been eating loads from greggs and never put any weight on, good innit?

Is that the truth? Pasty or sandwich? Which part of the country is that, if I'm not being too nosey?
Lintuk Dec 26, 2003, 20:29 sorta an open top pastie slice type thing.
Fooking gorgeous they are too.
lemsip Dec 27, 2003, 10:18 Greggs are everywhere in South Wales and there are always queues outside them as they are so cheap and service is quick. However I don't buy pasties from them after 2pm as they've gone cold and the staff refuse to heat them up OK saying that it's against the law. In fact often all the pasties are cooked by noon leaving them to go cold even by 1pm on cold days. I only like the creamy chicken pasties anyway
Give me the Cornish Bakeaway who do real cornish pasties with skirt of beef and chunky veg and potatoes rather than the mush that Greggs put in their pasties. They are more expensive but the staff do re-heat them when they've cooled down.
GrumpyBoy Dec 31, 2003, 01:15 I live above a Gregs but hardly ever eat the stuff now, i'm quite thin and intend to stay that way and stuffing my face with stodgy junk food and cream cakes will not help, sorry no offense to anyone but if your fat and you eat that stuff then its your own fault.
I find their food nice but rather dull and tasteless.
You very quickly get board with it although every time I have someone to stay they usally go mad for Gregs food in the morning and I have trudge down 4 flights of stairs to go and get it.
Also they run out food at about 3 o'clock which is not much use they should expand their range and open later.
And as pointed out before the hot stuff never is hot.
World Of Weird Jan 3, 2004, 14:35 Greggs is just another fucking corporate juggernaut that needs a huge scandal or health scare to wipe the fuckers out.
All their hot foods and buns are basically stodgy, greasy, congealed lumps of mush that make you want to spew after eating them. Like Pot Noodle, the stuff you get from Greggs is a poor substitute for food.
I'd rather go to a good old-fashioned bakery, pay a bit more and get stuff that tastes like food, nice and natural, tasty and hot. Yum.

So you don't like Greggs then, You only have to look at the staff most of them are fat, ugly and stupid, shit! most bakers think there is 13 in a dozen even I know there is at least 11.

...and I said such nice things about Liza Tarbuck.
World Of Weird Jan 7, 2004, 17:32 WoW goes into Greggs and orders a pasty.
Thicko behind the counter says "Do you want anything with that, sir?"
WoW replies, "Yes, another ten, because that miserable squashed thing wouldn't fill a fucking mouse."

Oh. Sorry you feel that way.
I will now boycott their shop and start a 24hr vigil of "GREGSS IS GROSS" to appease you.
Geoneil Jan 8, 2004, 23:27 Of course you get the Corned Beef Pasties up here too form Greggs of Gosforth
Although I favour the Ham & Cheese bake
far outstrip Milligans I tell you
Cloudane Jan 8, 2004, 23:36 I like Greggs. They make some fairly interesting sandwiches, their sausage rolls are quite nice and I was addicted to their chocolate eclairs at one time :p
I am completely addicted to Druckers coffee cream eclairs.

You know its srange but I find cakes and sweets rather sickly
I can't understand while people go so mad for them
World Of Weird Jan 9, 2004, 16:05 Yeah, and I think Roses are much nicer than (lack of)Quality Street.
dominoid Jan 15, 2004, 17:17 Quality street are all made by four year old kids in indian sweat shops so Roses are bound to be better. And as Nestle are relatively evil I know which is getting my vote, refused to eat them at my parents over xmas, I brought roses round instead so I could whip them out if it looked like my parents were gonna serve out the QS.
And I have to defend Greggs, IMHO their Ham and cheese bake is the nicest pastry available in my city and their fresh cream coffee iced bun thing is lovely, far nicer than this fake cream shit you get in most bakeries round my way.
