View Full Version : O2 - contract
Jabberwocky Jan 2, 2004, 14:26 I've just had a text msg off of O2
"Your mobile usage is unusually highm a call restriction may be placed on your line. Please call the Customer Services number on yhour invoice to discuss."
Been on hold for 30 minutes now... waiting for an advisor
02 have had shed loads of problems over the new year. My text messages got 'stuck' for 24 hours
Jabberwocky Jan 2, 2004, 15:02 no - I've spent over my lower (and highger now) limit on my fone contract :D
They;ve increased it now caus eI aid part of it off over the fone.
But O2 are having a load of problems... my gf's been txting me lie mad (her words) and I've only had half of 2 msgs.
Betcha I'll get them all in one massive flood!
If you are having problems receiving sms, change the phone setting to manual, then vodaphone. Then when it says you cannot do it back to automatic and O2.
Switch the phone on and off and it will receive the messages.
Teeny glitch in their system ;)
AnthillMob Jan 3, 2004, 18:31 some cheeky bastard from O2 phoned me on my mobile (vodafone) to ask if id like to change contracts! before i cut him off i asked where he got my number from and he said "a marketing agency". fucktards!
wildmurphy Jan 6, 2004, 10:45 i succesfully got away with a £1000 (yes that is correct) bill from singlepoint because people called to try and sell me phones.
Its called the data protection act.
wont fuck with me or my solicitor again the fuckers.
Singlepoint are shite. Pikey phone service providers. Stay away from them, as they just like to bleed their customers dry.
Tallulah Jan 9, 2004, 01:03 O2 are the worst moblie phone company I have ever used. They email me to tell me when my bill is available for viewing online, only it is never there, so I don't know what they are charging me for. 1st month they took money without even emailing me and said I must have given them the wrong email address. I told them that was unlikely as I had recieved their spam to the correct email address, and they did manage to send me my emails.
Orange are the best in my experience.
I have been with O2 for 2 years and I find that at times they are a bit tardy but 500 free text messages and 200 minutes to any mobile a month can't be that bad...
And becuase of there incompetence I conned them into giving me a £150 mobile upgrade for £60....
Sweet
Kinky McFoxxy Jan 9, 2004, 15:05 Now, here's a story...
A year and a half ago, my boyfriend lost his O2 online phone whilst in Greece. He contacted them to block the number (which was confirmed) and for a valuation of the handset for the insurance claim, and they sent him an email saying 'the value of this handset is £0', so he thought 'fuck that', got a 'pay as you go', paid the line rental til the contract was up, and got in touch to cancel. 'Oh, Mr McFoxxy, we'll send you a brand new handset and sim card, and pay the first six months for you if you stay with us!' So he said yes and got said phone and sim card. Didn't work. Got a replacement sim card. Also fooked. Mr McFoxxy sent phone back, complete with proper documentation and all that shite, phoned them to say he was sending it back and wanted to cancel, and emailed them to boot(also saying Look! My email address changed! any correspondance should be to this brand spanking new one!). This was about a year ago.
Two days ago, he got a letter, deliviered to his mum and dad's house (we've been in our flat for over a year!) froma credit management company, demanding £142. Yurns out the dumb O2 fuckers hadn't bothered to cancel the contract for the lost phone, despite the number being blocked for over a year, and Mr McFoxxy having cancelled his contract with them TWICE!
Stupid arses.
I managed to get T-Mobile to get £100 off my upgarde, so only paid £30 for my phone.
Lil' al Jan 9, 2004, 23:30 Hmm- my O2 contract mobile (a nice 7250i) got nicked over christmas and despite me having their insurance I have been told that I'm not covered because it was lost in a place that sells alcohol. Apparently if you lose your phone in a place that sells booze or on public transport you're not covered- now where are the two places I'm most likely to lose my phone?
Orange used to be the best but i got fed up with their rude geordie (nothing against geordies) call centre 'help' people and so changed to O2- who now also appear to be pants- BUT they do have an online simcard that you top up with £10 every 30 days and you get 300 free text messages- I wish I'd just stuck to that instead of selling my soul to them.
In closing can I just add that if anyone has a cheap Nokia 7250i or Sony Ericsoson T610 (the camera one) then I would be interested in buying it :)
Jabberwocky Jan 10, 2004, 17:34 depends on what you call cheap :P
Quote me a price for a 7250i, and I'll tell you whether I'll sell it ya :P
Oh, by the way - I had my SIM barred blocked from the network for 11 hours today.
"Sorry- we're having a few technical difficulties"
Too right!
I only use O2 cause of the call prices, not for quality - though am tempted to switch to Voda, cause a mate of mine works for them, and I can get a VERY good deal if I move to them :P

Thank you! That was really sweet of you to find that out for me- you're a bright shiny star!
no problem, hope it helps. If I come across anything else I will let you know.
fireboy Jan 11, 2004, 14:36 I have one of the orginal O2 "Genie"contract sim cards which was originally unlimited text messages and about 500 off peak minutes a month freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, the bastards dropped it to a limit of 600 about 6 months ago due to what they termed as "excessive usage" but when i asked how many i had sent they could not tell me.
NOw you would think that i would be able to check my online bill with them and see for myself, oh no not possible - i have had this number for about three years now and at no point has my online billing worked, despite many many many emails to have it fixed. I have had episodes where i was unable to make out going call, recieve calls, message being delayed for up to 7 days and so on ..
When calling recently to see if i could upgrade my handset they were over the moon, i was presented with a number of options all coming in arounf the £100 mark - all sorted card details for the transaction given then they mention the change to my contract which halfs my free text messages and free calls and doubles my line rental, bastards - i think not.
So if anyone has any suggestions as to how to go about making them give me a new handset without changing my contract i would be most keen to heat them..
point is though, okay the service is a bit ropey, but you dont have to pay for the text messages. Or you can pay and get better service...
fireboy Jan 11, 2004, 15:20 Line rental is about £10.00 a month with my average bill not going much over £15-20 the sting in it comes with my day time call costs, but that is usually chargable to work and not a problem.
I would like the best of both worlds :D
Jabberwocky Jan 11, 2004, 16:22 legally you can get out of your contract charge free cause they've changed it.
But did they give you a months notice? the standard contract says they'll give you a months notice of any charge changes.
Lol - there are some good deals on the O2 leisuretime packages. but if you ask to keep the same tariff, and just ugrader your handset then they should be able to (unless they're chaging tht tariff charges)
:P
Tallulah Jan 11, 2004, 16:27 Fireboy, I have found that my online bill on the o2 website is only viewable with Internet Explorer. I have emailed them about it, and they cannot understand how I can see the internet without Internet Explorer.
Jabberwocky Jan 11, 2004, 18:28 I can use it in Mozz.
buit I'm using AM ... theres another bill thing
but it's done for IE
fireboy Jan 11, 2004, 19:02 I use MSIE and it just does not work, about 50 emails to and fro O2 as the phone support sucks big time.
My sister gets her bill every month
Lil' al Jan 11, 2004, 22:02 I get mine but it can be a bit dodgy, the link never works and if you cut and paste it into the address bar then it doesn't work either- but if you type it in yourself then it'll work about 50% of the time- if it'll actually log me in.
It's still more effective than trying to get through to them on the phone- there were too many people calling that I couldn't even get into a queue to wait for an advisor when my phone was robbed.
Jabberwocky Jan 12, 2004, 15:31 http://www.accountmanagement.o2.co.uk/
Are you guys using that?
The only problem I get is it sometimes just times out... otherwise It's fine - I can always login
fireboy Jan 12, 2004, 23:58 nope.
would still like a new handset tho :D
Lil' al Jan 13, 2004, 16:41 Wouldn't we all.

Buy a phone without contract and stick your old sim in it
Jabberwocky Jan 14, 2004, 14:03 hrms... well - I only use that URL - I'm guessing you guys are using the other thing "My Bill" when you login.
That thing sucks
sign up for AM - it's a lot better
Lil' al Jan 14, 2004, 14:26 I use AM and it's shit- not up to my high standards at all!
Lil' al Jan 15, 2004, 16:06 I had a bit of a brainwave about this last night- the cheapest current O2 line rental is £15 a month in the shops (not sure about online but probably about the same). If you sign up for a new contract but still keep your old one you will be paying £25 a month, more than before I know but this is about average for the UK now. If you have both packages then you can use them for the best of both worlds- e.g genie so you get free text and minutes and the other contract for the brand spanking new phone you'll get with it and free minutes in the day. Or maybe just buy a new handset (see salsa's post)

which costs about 9 meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelion dollars, which is not what i want to be spending my money on at the moment :D
Lil' al this is an excellent idea, although it was one i originally dismissed it maybe worth having a look at. Having spoken to O2 they must have a note with my account that says something along the lines of ..
give him nothing for free, at all, ever,n try and talk him into a new contract :D
Lil' al Mar 3, 2004, 17:03 Have been stuck in a queue waiting to get through to an O2 advisor for over 20 minutes now- and I'm being charged 35p a minute- all just to change my tariff so they get even more money from me- I'm gonna kick some O2 ass once I finally get through.
fireboy Mar 3, 2004, 17:12 go 3 headed beast woman !!!
Lil' al Mar 3, 2004, 18:02 Consider O2's ass well and truly kicked. (I haven't started on the Starflower oil yet)

Hmm, I thought the Orange call centres were ll in Bristol. Call one next month with a technical enquiry and you'll be talking to meeeeee!
The o2 online SIM card thing isn't bad but they're not good at remembering if you've topped up or not, I got charged for messages for two months and woe betide you should ever get it stolen and want a replacement, they WILL charge you for the priveledge of paying them ten pounds a month whether you have insurance or not.
