nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see mcdonalds close down.

how they have the audacity to call their shite "meals" i dont know, and they also have the gall to call themselves a restaurant.

how to confuse mcdonalds staff : if you can get access to the back of the till (the bit facing you), theres a little switch/button. press it and it locks the till. watch the spotty teenage oik of a manger get flustered.

Apparently, in America, the burgers look as good as the pictures above the counter! Here in England it's rare you get something that's just been cooked. I find you're lucky if it's warm.

I went to my local Mcdonalds the other day. My fries were cold and my Big Mac looked like it had been put together with a catapult.

I vow never to go to a fast food restaurant ever again!!! (and im only 1 chapter through fast food nation).

I occasionaly have the veggie burgers if I'm really starving and can't find anywhere else that I like. They don't taste bad actually, kind of a spicy flavour to them. It was fast food that turned me into a veggie in the first place though, don't know how meat eaters can eat stuff like that when they could get a steak or something that at least contains real meat and not leftover bits of shite from the meat plants.

I like their breakfast muffins.

The rest of it sucks.

What gets me is how they always pretend not to understand you unless you use the 'Mc-' prefix in your order... if you say 'Chicken burger please' they look at you with that blank stare and say 'wha?'. But as soon as you say 'McChicken Burger' they understand perfectly.

Bastards.

Meat comes from cows.
Cows eat grass.
Grass is a plant.
You are what you eat.
Therefore meat = plant.

Yeah, but the advantage of the burgers in the UK is that they're made with beef without too much shit in them.

And when I say 'shit' I mean 'shit'. Am I being clear enough? HAMBURGERS IN MANY FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS IN AMERICA, AND IN THE FOOD SOLD TO SCHOOLS TO FEED CHILDREN CONMTAINS CATTLE EXCREMENT!

Maccy Dees is great..... a couple of cheeseburgers and some fries washed down with a coke - yummy!

I think the technical term for them is patties rather than burgers and I far prefer them to birdseye et al that you cook at home.

There's nowt wrong with maccy dees in my opinion - and as for salsas health concerns - you should see some of the places I frequent at 2.30 in the morning, eyes rolling in my head and beer down my shirt - fuck knows what I'm eating but it tastes good thats for sure!

I had McD's for dinner tonight. Work dictated that I couldn't get home and there's a McD's about 5 minutes from the uni.

So it was a "Big n Tasty Meal" for me.

The fries were limp, the burger started to taste funny as I reached the middle of it. At least the Sprite was alright. So, I ate about half and dumped the rest.

What do you expect for $3.00 though?

I gagging for a black pudding supper now though! Now that's food.

My housemate insists that frying food makes no difference to how healthy it is for you, but yet moans about that he is overweight.
Ill admit when I was younger, and about 18stone, I didnt think fast food was as bad for you as it was made out. This year Ive watched another housemates girlfriend get consistantly fatter over the year which I reckon is due to her eating at Burger King nearly everyday.

I agree. If there was little choice, fair enough. But there is so much choice. It all depends on how much your willing to pay (take it literally or otherwise) to eat. I for one am an extremely fussy eater (since food poisoning and various stomach problems - which doctors believe are related).

so what if burgers and mc nuggests contain bits of the cow you don't want to think about eating.

1) They won't kill you, it's only our modern sensibilities that says they are disgusting to eat.
2) They taste good

In school we were always taught about how native/aboriginal type cultures were fantastic and never wasted anything, making use of all parts of animals they killed in big complex ways. In contrast Western society was terribly wasteful, only using the bits they wanted and discarding the rest.

Turns out we're not so wasteful and that we have some vaguely sustainable practices, and the first thing we do is declare it to be disgusting and vile and hideous.

As for complaining about rats outside a restaurant???
There are rats outside.
There are rats outside EVERY restaurant, there isn't much the restaurant can do, and legally I think they are more limited still, since putting down rat poison outside is something you're not meant to d.

I've seen a lot more immaturity from the other forum members towards this person than vice versa, frankly, and she's not the first target I've seen in the "let's all get at one person" culture here (of course if you're just playing, ignore my rambling)

Anyhow, back on topic...

Yes, I've seen some very nasty things about the manufacture of burgers. Everything from toenail to testicle goes in there sometimes. With some of the cheap burgers, pork pies, sausage rolls etc you often bite into something and find a piece that is not meat, not fat, not bone and not pleasant - makes me wretch, so I stopped buying cheap brands like "Pork Farms" et al.

I've also seen CCTV footage, people gloating etc, lots of proof of what goes on in some places like that (Burger King admittedly, not McD's). You'd better not be a snotty customer, as that increases the likelihood of you receiving a snotty burger. (Replace snot with spit or smegma as appropriate)

However, I still go to McD's on occasion. It just can't be helped! And I think they have much better control over their staff as well as their burgers... I say this as I know someone (a professional person) who used to be a manager there and is adamant that it's actually a very clean and well controlled place. It's mostly the knock-offs, as well as Burger King, that are the problem I think.

I know someone that used to work in a pork pie factory. Apparently they used to lick the labels to stick them to the pies before wrapping them. :D

I actually went into one in NewYork recently, just to see if it was better than the UK. It was the one opposite the main entrance of the Empire State, so was expecting it to be pristine with super service.

Couldn't have been more wrong, it was only 8pm and there was only 1 other customer in there, there only seemed to be 2 staff and 1 seemed to be the manager \ owner that refused to do shite. The other, although about 30 years old, seemed to understand English but not speak it.

Most the menu was off, the ladies toilets was closed and the entire place was a complete fucking tip. We waited behind the person in front for nearly 20 minutes, then left without food.

Instead we went to Wendy's - Don't think we get those in the UK. Personally i think the food was great, better than the MD or BK we get here, but service was still shite.

This is the general feeling i got from eating out in New York, I'm not sure if its indicative of the whole of the US but if I was to sum it up...

Food was great, but if the yanks did invent fast food, they've clearly forgotten how to do it now.

That doesn't include the many Deli's that we went to - they were ace - another thing we don't really get in the UK that I liked.

I only ever saw a Wendy's when I lived in Uxbridge. I don't think I liked it much.

I think it's a KFC now \m/

I am happy to say that I occaisionally have a McDonalds, or Burger King and enjoy them thoroughly. I find them very tasty. After which I do have a bit of a guilt trip about the "crap" I have eaten.

Then again there are alot of people who "consume" things that they know arent good for them on a greater frequencey which is DEFINATELY going to harm them and of course people know excatly what is going in them.

........and that bloody film where that bloke ate nothing but McDonalds for 30 days,WOW who'd have thought it would be no good for you!!!

Bloody McDonalds.............making people to eat their food eh?

I once had a long distance girlfriend whose two motivations for visiting me in Bradford were a) to have the best sex of her life and b) to dine at the Wendys we had in the town centre. It is one of life's great mysteries that they just failed to catch on in the UK and eventually sold their restaurants and got the hell out of dodge.

I'd say they've improved somewhat since my 2004 comment.

The breakfasts are still gorgeous.

I'd said the rest of it is crap - in terms of health, yes it is! It's also not necessarily very filling. In terms of tastiness, yummy. Nothing like one of their cheeseburgers.

:stupid: - exactly the same.

I also enjoy the new toasties.

On the downside, you can never be certain that - kids being kids - they're not adding any "special ingredients" to your burger. It's also a highly annoying place to be during school holidays when all the youngsters, chavs and screaming brats are in there...

recently i have eaten maccy dees and they dont make me feel so good. Maybe it's because I eat a big mac meal and wash it down with a cheeseburger... all eaten in about 10 minutes? Or maybe their food really is not so good.
An hour or so after eating I feel very lethargic and with a dry mouth.

Or maybe thats because lunch is up and I have to get back to work?
