I was quite surprised by this game as I don’t a drive a car and have no real interest in them and in fact I find I boy racers quite irritating as a general rule, well this games all about boy racers, fast cars with flashy spoilers, and fat tires also women that hang around saying how great you are for driving like a lunatic, completely illegally.

The game based round the sub culture of illegal street racing you start with a standard car and after you’ve your proved your self to be a “good driver” you get to choose a new car from a limited selection, all the cars are real street cars and look right exactly even down the to badge on the back for example one of the cars you can first get is a Golf GT1.

As you progress though game you can upgrade almost every part of your car imaginable from new engine parts, brakes, tyres, spay jobs and so on but is this all done in straightforward and non dull way. Also new cars become unavailable which you can switch to.

The graphics are amazing the level the detail very good and speed makes games like midnight club laughable like being driven around by an old lady in a clapped out transit van with foggy windows.

All the races are done at night though city streets. As well the usual type of race there is drag racing which requires you to drive your cars as fast as possible in a straight line changing gear (all other types race can be done in manual) at the exactly the right rpm to maximize speed, sometimes right into oncoming traffic. Another type is “drift” racing in this you need to drive around a track and drift/skid around corners using your hand brake as much as possible to gain points, Both the “drag” and “drift” race types can be tricky at first but can be mastered and since I am crap at car games this means anyone can do the same.

Anyway its a good game for a bit a fun and worth trying out.
