i just had to reinstall windows 200 professional and when on the internet sometimes i just cannot click on links sometimes it's ok but other times it's not and it all worked fine before.

anotehr thing i downloaded msn messenger (latest version) and when i try to install it i get an error jsut saying "msn messanger setup had failedwith error code 1601 please go to website" blah blah

any suggestions ?

Windows 200, now that's an oldie :D

Try grabbing all the Windows Updates. There might be some components it needs...

I had and still have the first problems you mention with windows 2000. I dont know why it happens. But if you close IE and start again it works.

I am just living with it. :S

I didnt have the problem with installing messenger. But I just upgraded my old version. Could you try and install an old version and see where that takes you?

i got my msn to install but i just cant get windows update to run from my comp any suggestions ?

have you tried going manually to the website?

and make sure you visit in internet explorer - not a different browser...

have tried going to the website drnoble and it says checking for latest version this may take a few minutes and nothign happens after that
