nearing 30 i discovered today that i might have to start shopping in m&s for my clothes because the state of fashion today is fast becoming a joke.

do you know whats coming into fashion? what all the shops are full of? i'll tell you :

50s style clothes. we're talking big flarey skirts with netting underneath (like they wore in Grease) and everything is pink and black polka dots!

i'd look a right fool wearing that kind of get up, as would everyone else.

another fashion i noticed today are them damn bondage boots, you know the ones, black suede with loads of buckles. for some reason thetre were loads of teenagers in the high street today in groups and they all wore the same uniform of bondage boots and turned up jeans.

laugh? i almost shat!

There's plenty wrong with fashion!
The best plan is to have your own style and ignore the stuff in the shops. I buy Vogue and get ideas from it but I wouldn't buy expensive crap just cos it was in fashion.

Foxhole is the best for cheap clothes, especially jeans and t-shirts, not great for work clothes though.

dorothy Perkins and Topshop do a load of fitted cotton tops in different styles- long-sleeved, 3/4 length, t-shirt, v-neck, bardot-style, round neck, vest, etc- in squillions of colours and they're dead cheap (between £5 and £10) and they wash really well too.

I don't buy expensive crap, I buy reasonably priced high street stuff... couldn't afford expensive crap!

Yes, there is a lot wrong with Vogue, and there are some riculous clothes in there, but some of the the style is inspirational to me and easily copied at a reasonable price.

Hence the 50's style stuff in the shops, which takes us full circle... :D

I've got nothing against 50's style - some people look good in it, but I would not.
The amount of pink clothes in the shops where I live is stupid - not every female wants to wear pink, though, I admit some do. I would like more variation is some items though, hot pink, luminous pink or powder pink doesn't seem like a choice to me.

it's depressing to walk into a store and see nothing but clown clothes for sale. it's just easier (and safer)to make your own style and mix and match.
tube tops...shudder.

Get yourself to an Asda Anthill! It's really cheap right now for clothes, was there earlier and saw some hook and eye fastening shirts (suitable for work), long and short sleeved t - shirts, various colours, £5 or less.

Ooh, yeah, Asda are doing T-shirts (long and short sleeved, and v neck) for £1.75-£2 just now, and shirts for £3.50-£4. They're great.

1920's stuff is starting to come back into the high street now- so much nicer than the 1950's stuff- lots of beading and elegance.

20's is fine if you're skinny, all that bias cut and floaty chiffon... Was looking in Monsoon for a grad ball dress, which would've been fine if I'd wanted to go as the world's biggest flower fairy! All in all, I think the shape of the 50's stuff is more flattering to more body shapes.

You have point, but I'm all skinny with the figure of a pre-pubescent boy so the 1920's stuff is lots better for me- yet I still can't find a graduation ball dress either.

20's stuff is far nicer then the stuff thats round now - I did buy a pink mohair top with a dog on it from Topshop - but my now ex boyfriend put it on a boil wash for me and then tumble dried it (thats not why we broke up) Anyway - it would now fit a 5 year old - Think he may have been trying to tell me something.
I hate the skirts that girls seem to be wearing at the mo - They are just far too short!! I'm not a prude or anything but I went out with a mate last night and I was wearing black trousers and my favourite "going out" top which is slashed down to my belly button with little diamonds holding it together - by no means frumpy but its not slutty like it sounds! It feels really classy and I love it(cost me £95 so good job) but I felt really dowdy - I seemed to be one of the minority with my arse actually covered up - You could actually see my mates butt cheeks her skirt was that short!! I just can't see how this can be attractive!
Personally, I can't see the appeal in walking round town in the freezing cold with my arse out.
