View Full Version : life break
Barnacle Bill Feb 5, 2004, 13:17 If you had a chance to have 5 months off work, and you wanted to go abroad, where would you go ?
Would you work or just save and bum around, would you be worried about your home or would you rent it, or if you were renting would you ditch the contract and take off?
I have missed tow chances of snowboarding this year, My girlfriend went to see friends in Les Arcs, got back today, our friends have bought a property with some chalets, they are building a restaurant and have asked us both to move out for a season and help them with it.
I have said, yes fuck it, im sick of this rat race back here and want some fun so im off in nov 2004.
anyway, where would you want to go if you had the chance??
I'm yet to visit South America and Australasia, so I'd like to go to Brazil and Australia. I want to go to Brazil because of the culture, Australia to see my cousins.
dominoid Feb 5, 2004, 14:33 Australia after rading Bill Brysons excellent account of it in 'down under' recently or Canada because it's beautiful.

I've been to Venezuela and Oz, and they are both unspeakably beautiful. :) Highly recommended. Go, that's all there is to it, just go. (but stay in touch! ;) )
I am quite fond of where I live on the gulf coast of Florida. I see the Gulf of Mexico, palm trees and sunny skies (the latter most days). The only thing missing is lots and lots of money to make it more enjoyable. However, I would also like to visit the western part of Australia.
Mr. Biscuit Feb 5, 2004, 15:36 Done my little bit of travel, got it out of my system - boring ain't I? Been around the world an aye aye aye - I can't find my baby.
I would love to spend my five months in this country sleeping when my body tells me to, training myself in new software on my PC, getting my own business off the ground, chilling over long weekends away in nice places (yes there are some in the UK) and maybe meeting a few new people.

Am moving to Toronto in September- can't wait- London sucks!
Gentreau Feb 6, 2004, 07:45 Where you go is less important than the fact that you go.
Anywhere which is not Britiain, will challenge you and expand your horizons. It's all good
PS any dogbomber discounts at Les Arcs?
cor_innit Feb 6, 2004, 08:11 Off to Argentina in November/December. I'd only go to London/NY/Berlin if there was plenty of $ in it, otherwise I'd just travel around this country and southeast Asia.
Kormiic Feb 6, 2004, 09:26 Pbasonuk: A mate of mine recently got laid off, with the offer that his job will probably be waiting for him in 3 months time, so the jammy cunt has pissed off to France for the rest of the snowboarding season. I might pack up my board and go bum floorspace with him for a weekend and get some quality snowboarding on the cheap.

Jen (my lady) said they are having the best weather for years in the alps at the moment, they had 9 foot of powder in two days and the sun is blazing now. i need to get loads of new gear. Jens dad was saying that he might give us some money to buy some property and turn it into boarders accomodation, and we can go out there and run it EVERY season !! what a life ! cant wait

Will you be my daddy?
Barnacle Bill Feb 6, 2004, 12:01 :haha: sorry kormic, to young to be your daddy !!
Its just so bizzare, I have been feeling close to depressed lately, being sick to death of being stuck in this rat race, keep up with the jones's, twat infested country. I really do hate living here now where all there is to do is go to the pub or posey wine bars on the weekend. and the weather ! dont get me started on the weather !!
Went to Brazil last year. Actually got to fly there for free cos my mate won some tickets! Great place. Would love to go back and explore the place more, rather than doing the usual touristy things. Want to see Mexico an Oz too.
