One night when I was at work someone went in the men's toilets and stole all the brass taps.

However, this is way stranger:

Steel bridge stolen in Ukraine

An 11-metre-long steel bridge has been dismantled and stolen in western Ukraine.

Police say locals are behind the theft of the bridge that used to span the river Svalyavka.

Officers said it would have been impossible to take the bridge apart without a crane and a lorry. They also say it would have been difficult to have taken it away unnoticed.

and consider this...

Student accused of stealing 1p worth of electricity

A German student who plugged his laptop into a socket at a train station is facing legal charges for "stealing electricity" worth less than a penny.

Jan Michael Ihl, a 23-year-old student from Trier, found the socket by an abandoned information stand and used it to find out the address of a hostel he was staying at in the town of Kassel.

But he had not got very far out of the train station when three police officers arrested him for "illegally extracting electricity" from the train station.

The officers said they had watched as Ihl crouched by the plug socket and constantly looked over his shoulder before running away.

The matter has now been handed over to the public prosecutors who will decide if it is worth taking the student to court.

After conducting his own calculations on how much electricity he "stole", Ihl, who is also an energy specialist for environmental organisation Greenpeace, said: "The whole thing is ridiculous. I 'stole' electricity worth less than one cent."

So, what strange things have Dogbombers stolen? And did you get away with it?

I used to steal everything that wasn't nailed down. Didn't have a clue why i wanted it or what i was gonna do with it. Just did it cos i could. Would never nick off people, just companies or big business, things i thought they could afford to lose. Really dont understand why, perhaps a cry for attention that i never got. Most expensive thing i ever had was a £200 BMX. Got on it in Halfords and rode it out through the front doors.

I nicked a pot noodle from the newsagents I worked in on a Sunday, and got it out of the shop by stuffing it down the leg of me mothers shell suit pants. I was wearing them at the time, they had a hole in the pocket, so I just looked like I had a lumpy ankle.

First thing I ever stole was a apple for the local corner shop, whilst all my mates stood outside in wonder when I brought it out!.

In my profession I've worked in 2 warehouses, 1 being superdrug where I stole daily at least 2 packets of crisps, a bottle of ribena and a boost. The other Frigoscandia where I would eat ice cream all day long whilst telling my superiors I was off on a stock check so I may be some time...ahh the joys of middle management job made for lay abouts and the idle

I've taken a few things before but the most from one place was when I used to work at a supermarket. I used to take chocolate, ciggarettes, razors, batteries just whatever was going, and that went on for a while.

Just before I left, I managed to outdo myself, by taking 12 bottles of champagne. That'll teach them for putting me on report.

i stole a stop sign once from my uni. Besides that, just the usual sad bastard antics: salt, ketchup sachets from restaurants, napkins ( i get frustrated at the prices so need to get my moneys worth) which are free anyway.

I work at a large retail outlet and the amount of good stuff they throw away is staggering, I'm always fetching decent stuff home.

But I see it as recycling ........ not thieving !

I used to nick ornamental flowerpots from people's front gardens on the way home from the boozer, and put them in the front gardens of the people living opposite. I don't know why - I just did! It stopped when I got caught red-handed by an off-duty copper though, who let me off as he said I looked like a 'nice lad' who wasn't going to do it again, was I?

Me mate nicked the big jar of pickled onions from a fish and chip shop counter one night - imagine the social status of being banned from a fish and chip shop!

Oh, and I still have the dangly knob thingy on a sprng that you used to steady yourself with on the London Underground.
'It came off in my hand, honest!'
