can anyone help? i,m about to spunk a grand and a half on a funky new t.v & i'm trying to find out the pros &cons of plasma--lcd t.v's e.g. shelf life ,quality,etc any input would be greaty appreciated !!

Overall Plasma screens have a lot of advantages compared to LCD, however bear in mind they generally have under half the operational life-span of an LCD. Given the cost, this is an important factor to bear in mind, esp since it effects resale value.
