If you're ever after upVC windows and and doors, do NOT choose Weatherseal Windows.

A few months back we asked them for a quote. Bloke turned up "it'll take a maximum of an hour". An hour gone and he hadn't even looked at the windows. Two hours gone and we threw him out. He spent the entire second hour coming up with a quote that was over 100% above what we'd already been quoted by another firm (We told him his was the first quote we'd had). We then had the "this quote is for today only. Leave it a day or two and the price goes up" routine. I told him fine, we'd get some other quotes and I bet if we came back to them they'd do it at the price he quoted. Cue various arguments as he tried again and again to get us to sign for the ridiculous quote he'd given. I think the final straw came when he said "OK, if you're not signing today, just give me £50 as a deposit".

We turfed him out. Then got a call from their main office two days later saying we could have the windows at 70% less than what he quoted. I told them to stick them up their arse.

The worst of it is - they are STILL ringing us. Yesterday I had a call from someone asking if we wanted any windows. I told him that they've been told four times to piss off and that next time I'm phoning Trading Standards. This cunt then had the cheek to say "OK, I'm ending this phone call if you are going to be like that".

Remember the name. Weatherseal Windows. Scum

They do not sound like the nicest of people. Are you sure that they do not need to go and meaure up time life, the britania music collection and ther britannia book collection people ;) for windows.

Oh, and another thing I've just remembered. The guy that they sent to do the quote was an Asian bloke. No problem with that. Until he said "Look, we're not a Paki company". His visit was then interspersed with gems like "All our stuff is top quality. We're not Pakis", "You can trust us, we're not Pakis", etc.

Fucking arsehole.

Sorry to here the shit you had from Weatherseal but first of all think of the following;
1. UPVC window's are shit, especially on a stone property.
2. They say it's low maintenance to get them, yes but what they don't tell you is so are timber window's. Timber softwood windows can be factory finished with all the weather treatment and injections to keep them not needing painting for 10 years and no one can tell the difference between softwood and hardwood once this is done - for 1/2 the cost.
3. Timber window's look 10 times better, use you local carpenter's get some quote and they will make you windows that will last forever and will be installed well.
4. I'm an Architect and that's my opinon.

P.S. The exact same thing happened to my brother but he turned it around, he got 3 quote's ignored them when they said if you buy today you will get 50% off waited 2-3 weeks, and in the end got 70% off the original price! They work on commission - end of the month targets pinch them and if you hold out till the end of the month you'll get a deal!

I had some shit with a company who wanted to check my walls (free check - what a scam) who were ringing every night so I signed up to TPS and have had only 2-3 calls in the last 4 months (and when those 2/3 called I said do you know you are breaking the law? Have you not heard of TPS?)

There is also the Mailing Preference Service where you can stop getting all the crap through your door. This doesn't stop the inevitable Friday Pizza Fylers or cab company cards but does stop all the offers of free credit cards

My folks got a quote from these jokers a few years back. The where going to leave the rotten wooden frames in and build the new windows round them and cover over the wood. The guy was in hanging around for over 2 hours, saying her could give us discounts for this that and the other. He wanted to make my folks house a show house, knock off 10% to have people coming round.

It turned out Weatherseal had gone bust 4 times in 10years. So people how had windows with a warrenty of 10 years had no come back.

Yup. We had that as well. 10% off if they use the house in photos, etc.

Re Timber Windows.

I operate a timber treatment plant. I treat about 15 cubic metres of hardwood / softwood joinery a week, the vast majority is for windows. I have never had anyone come back since i started 6 years ago to say that their windows have gone rotten. UPVC is total shite, get yourself some real hardwood frames fitted, get them treated with Protim 418 Vac Vac and Bob's yer uncle. I have just done all the treating for Michael Owens mansion in North Wales and his stuff was top notch. As a matter of fact we used the same company when we moved house. We had 21 windows and a new front door and frame made out of Sapele by Salopian Joinery in Market Drayton in Shropshire. These people do some of the best joinery that i have ever seen and i see a lot!
I have no connection at all with the above company but if you want a quality job doing then these are the guys.
