who has seemingly managed to get through life without watching or even wanting to watch any of the matrix films? they all have passed me by and i don't feel any less of a person for it.

I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY OF THE TRILOGY

it's like lord of the rings. can't say i feel a compulsion that is so compelling that i just have to watch the films.

I COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT IT.

am i mad? or have i lived a very sheltered life?

Loved the first Matrix film, still do (although it pisses me off the way every fucking action movie jumped on the bandwagon afterwards with the 'bullet time' effects. get some fucking originality you cunts).

Have to say though, that both sequels were complete and utter shite!..

Hollywood needs to learn to stop tainting good movies with piss awful sequels. (Alien 3 + 4 syndrome)

I saw the matrix 1 film. I didnt like it, I thought it was boring and that there wasnt actually a storyline. Its only redeeming feature was Keanu in leather pants.

I havent read lord of the rings, I hadnt seen any of the films until this week when i saw number 3, it was okay actually, except because i didnt know the story i didnt know who were good and who were bad. The elephants with nails in their tusks were cool though.

I saw the first matrix, none of the lord of the rings, and must confess, I've never seen ET and only saw the first starwars movie once back in the 70's when it first came out. A lot of that stuff I just have no desire to see.

I've seen the Matrix films.

It's my only regret.

( Well.......that and Cathy Hendra........but that's another story. )

They were all worth seeing just for the special effects. The plotline on the other hand was a bit convoluted, and at several instances just a bit boring.
Since special effects are such a quickly outdated attribute, and the plot was nothing really special, you've missed out on any chance of thinking of these films as great.
However, if you like a decent sci-fi film, or just enjoy watching people get shot in a very cinematic manner, I strongly recommend the first film, and roughly the second half of the second film.

I think the first one was a great film but the second was pretty dire. I haven#t bothered with the third yet so I can't comment. I wouldn't say it's a must wwatch film but when it gets onto terrestrial TV I'd reccomend checking it out even if it's just to see wha tall the fuss is about.

The Matrix Trilogy is essentially an easily digestable reader in Post-Modernism for media students too stoned/lazy/illiterate to pick up a book.

Borrowed the Matirx on video a few weeks ago from a bloke at work. I'd never seen it. Not, as it turned out, to my taste but the effects were very clever.

I was in a school play based on the Hobbit. Tried to read Tolkien a couple of times and just thought it was total nonsense. It seems to go in and out of fashion, so one year saying I didn't like it was good, next year bad and so on.

Still don't like it and like you, don't feel I've missed out.

Same with Harry Potter - saw the first film but it didn't appeal.

just 'for media students' would've sufficed.
