Have you ever been scared by a game your playing?

I was told by my eldest daughter to try Silent Hill 2 on the x-box even though we have it for pc too. So this afternoon i have been playing it....................... all afternoon as well till erm about 7 when i should have been making tea hehe.
Anyways my youngest daughter whos 12 was supposedly helping me. However every time one of the zombie thing appeared or the radio buzzed she would hide under a cushion.

I must say though at one point when i had to put my hand into a hole and the trigger thing vibrated i nearly died with fright hehe :)

I Remember When i Got Clive Barker's Undying. I Played It When I Was Alone In The House In The Dark Around Midnight On Halloween With The Voume really High Up. All Of A Sudden This Really Loud Scream In It Scared Me Shitless.

Also, In Half Life When They Jumped Out In The Dark At You Made Me Jump To

And American McGees Alice Was A Bit Freaky, But Im Not Sure if Id Say It Was Scary

Yes, System Shock 2. Fucking awesome game. IMHO it blows resident evil and all the other console 'survival horrors' out of the water on atmosphear (and you can get it for free too at underdogs).

Oh, and Darkseed, really old Amiga point and click adventure with visuals by H. R. 'I'm a sick twisted fuck who'll give you nightmares for the rest of your life' Geiger (The guy who designed the 'aliens' in the Alien films).

Shadowman had some scary bits in it. Sitting alone in the dark upstairs and hearing some minion from the depths of hell yell out "BLOOOOOOOOOOOOD" while you hear children laughing in the background and a musicbox playing.

oooh just remembered another one. American McGee's Alice.

Shit platform game, but the CGI intro with Alice at the end lying in the Asylum bed is very creepy.

All the Resident Evil games ( well, the first three ) really spook me out.

The only thing that spooked me out about Resident Evil is the way you would hold your gun out straight, and rotate slowly towards the marauding zombies WITHOUT MOVING YOUR FECKING FEET!

What, is the art dept. too lazy to finish animations for something that you'll do throughout the 'whole' game?

Bah!

when resident evil first came out me and me mate jumped out of our skins when the dog jumped through the window.

The other time I jumped was on tombraider when the jaguar jumped round the block I had pulled out.

Silent Hill 3. Fantasticly scary stuff. That haunted house sequence is brilliant.

In no other game could you possibly attack god with a mace.

Doom used to scare the shits outta me... especially when you relax at the sight of an exit only to bump into a pinkie demon on the other side, or trot around in a really quiet/dark area only to be rushed by a flying skull or hissed at by a pumpkin *shudder*

I don't even wanna think about what Doom3 will be like, if it's ever released!

When I was about 10yo, I used to be petrified by a game on the Spectrum called Avalon. It became so bad, I couldn't even sleep in the same room with the box! My brother would wind me up by sneaking in my room while I was asleep and loading it up. The only other game to really give me a fright was Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (http://www.thelegacy.de/Museum/4256/). It had the scariest music I've ever heard in a game (well worth downloading on an Amiga emulator).

Alien v Predator, I have still to play any of the marine mission to any great lenght. Blood aliens hissing at you, very scary with 5.1 and playing in the dark.

Doom had the same effect all those years ago also.

The first levels of Bloodrayne on the PS2, kecking hugh spiders popping up her there and everywhere.

Definatly, and its pants-packingly scary when played in the pitch black with headphones

Still does! Especially the pink things. I think the sound effects were very effective, hearing them walking around somewhere!

Might have a game now, actually. Better turn'th big light on!
