Are there enough dogbombers playing EvE to start some kind of clan?

If you don't know what I'm talking about see www.eve-online.com

It's a new online version of Elite and is very funky.

I've been playing EVE on and off since the beta. It's a very good game and I definitely recommend it to fans of Elite. It is a little complex for those starting out which proves overwhelming for some and they give up. There is a lot to learn, but it's worth sticking it out. Once you get a grasp on the economy and the universe it becomes much easier to play, then you can choose the career you want: miner, scientist, pirate, smuggler, bounty hunter - there's a long list of opportunites.

Eve-online has a huge playing arena and primarily PvP based making it highly challenging and a lot of fun as you try to survive. There's a lot of politics involved and tensions do arise between Corporations fighting over power and territories. You also have to keep an eye out for gun-toting pirates hiding near starports that will quite happily fire at your ship until all that's left is a frozen corpse - newbies are no exception to the rule either. The Eve-online universe is a dangerous environment - even for the most seasoned player, so when starting out it's advisable you join an experienced and established corp that can help you get started out.

Eve-online is currently free to download. You also get one month's free subscription.

not with the download you dont. you need to pay $19.95 to activate your account so the free month is a bit misleading. its a tenner in game here. should be in them all.

anyone starting give me a shout and i can hook you up with a corp and maybe some cash.

Im in!

I think I might have to leave the site now and never come back. I wont have time with all this mining I have to do.

Lady UberMinx is my name. Thats a shockingly unusual choice, isnt it?

Mr Minx is hassling me for his own account now.

Is it compulsory as it was in Elite, to throw yourself backwards in your chair, and suck in your cheeks, (both sets) to simulate warp speed?

Yep, unfortunately a chair hasn't yet been designed that simulates warp speed, so you have to improvise a bit.

Mining can get boring, and you'll be pleased to know that there are little harvester droids in the game that do a lot of the dirty work. Why don't you try a few missions to get a feel of the game, you also get a reward. Also check the Eve forum boards for Corps recruiting. The sooner you join a corp, the quicker you'll get into the game.

What's your current location?

At the moment I am working through the training missions, and hanging round the advanced learning school while learning some stuff.

Some fecker tried to get me to shoot at him in a highly policed zone the other day. Foon. I might be a noob, but I can read :)

Actually, that reminds me, my skill should be about cooked.

I'm currently playing as a ladee galente miner.

I could use recommendations for the sort of ship to aim for. (To buy, not to shoot at.) There seems to be a few of us picking this up. Mr Minx has now got his own account too. I will post the name of where I am (its prolly standard starting point?) when I have been in to start a new skill upping. BRB :D

Cistuvaert. I knew its name, just not how to spell it ;)

Oh, other question. I got a basic mining drone, and took it out to launch it, but every time i send it out it buggers off at a mighty speed and its really hard to catch again. What am I doing wrong?

easiest way to make cash at the start is to mine or do missions. when you get into a corp, the mining can be structured with others, allowing for loads more cash to be made, which lets you buy new skills to train and lets you get bigger ships with which you can do better missions and make more money

if you want.

no need to do anything its totally up to you how you go about it. Apart from the corporation you start and the other ones that people start in, depepnding on what kind of character they made, all the corporations are run by players. and the economy is player driven too. its hard to explain without talking about something that then needs more explaining.

if you can download the large client stick your email address here and i'll send you an email for a 7 day trial.

I gots myself a shiny frigate, and finished the tutorial missions. Now I have to go to bed before I die.

Hugo . HUGE HUGE HUGE game. Fly spaceship, trade, manufacture, mine, lean back in chair, suck in cheeks for warp speed. Runs in real time, although space travel is quicker ;) Training skills is done in blocks of time, you dont do anything to help it, time passes, and you learnt the skill. Some take days to learn, but fortunately it continues to train you when you arent even online. Upgrade ships and equips. Kill people. Chat online! Listen to music! See stunning graphics!

I should get a sales repping job for these chaps. Im a walking eveconvert.

Jedi, Lets do lunch ;)
