View Full Version : that song sounds like
postal postie Apr 27, 2004, 17:16 was listening to the radio this morning and up comes lostprophets with their song 'burn burn'
of course the dj didn't mention this until the end.
to start with the opening riff sounded suspiciously like an incubus riff
then in the middle he starts to sing the pre corus in exactly the same way that seal does in one of his songs.
kinda goes really high and squeky with the last word
any songs that sounded to much like another that you've heard recently?
postal postie Apr 27, 2004, 18:27 aaaaaaarrgh 17 views and no reply's.
marilyn mansons mob-scene sounds like faith no mores be aggressive.
come on. i'm not doing all the work myself you know. :)
Well there was that Black Eyed Peas one that sounded like that Natalie Imbruglia one. But that was a while ago. Does that help?
Alex DeLarge Apr 28, 2004, 01:12 I feel really old because, to be honest, all music in the charts now sounds like something I've heard before. Is that sad? I'm not WOW, honest.
The intro in Franz Ferdinand's 'Take Me Out' (where it slowly changes tone and pace) sounds exactly like the one on the Morrissey album 'Beethoven Was Deaf' where Ouija Board changes to November Spawns A Monster. Or maybe that's just me.
Mariska Apr 28, 2004, 01:44 I was listening to Metallica in the bedroom this morning while changing the bed linen. I noticed the intro to Am I Evil sounded just like the beginning of Gustav Holst's 'Planet Suite'. (and When by Megadeth sounds just like Am I Evil?)
I agree with Alex DeLarge. Just about everything these days sounds like something else. In the words of the bloke who wrote Ecclesiastes 'there is nothing new under the sun'.

Nickleback who I put on a level with Satan's lower intestine, released a song called Hit. It sounds surprising like How You Remind Me.
This guy Brandon has put "one shitty song playing in the left speaker, and the other ear-bleeding excuse for rock playing in the right speaker." Identical.
Have a listen to it!
Visionairies, I'm sure we all agree.
That Franz Ferdinand one also reminds me of an Iron Maiden song. But i can't remember which one.
Also the Imperial Death March from Star Wars is a bit of a copy of Mars by Holst. Only more menacing.
comababy Apr 28, 2004, 14:49 Franz Ferdinand 's Take Me Out has a riff suspiciously close to Survivor's Eye of the Tiger, methinks.
Blobby William's Feel is an obvious steal form the Manic's You're Tender and You're Tired.
And the new Anastacia single (whatever it's called) starts off sounding exactly like David Bowie's fairly recent Never Get Old.
postal postie Apr 28, 2004, 17:13 granted there's very little variety in music really since you can only have a certain amount of notes that you can play. but there's similar and then there's down right plagarism.
i do remember the manics 'if you tolerate this' was meant to sound so much like another song it was unbeleivable. any one remember the song?
staysinvegas May 6, 2004, 06:06 i think the intro to the jam's "a town called malice" sounds an awful lot the intro to the clash's "hitsville uk"... (i know, not currently on the charts, but whatever)
thevinesrok May 6, 2004, 11:38 The intro to pinks new song sounds like the intro to a placebo song, it might be the bitter end but i cant actually recall how her song goes at the moment, i'll tell you next time i hear it.

It was Duchess by The Stranglers, but, this being the Manics, they are forgiven.
