View Full Version : strange hybrid bands
postal postie May 9, 2004, 14:42 was reading the latest 'terrorizer magazine' and came across an article titled
BEATALLICA
a band that sings beatles songs in the style of metallica. i thought 'i just have to hear them.'
is there anyother strange hybrid bands you know of or who you think would be good?
Where i work, in a couple of weeks there's a band playing dub country!?
Will let you know what it sounds like.
TEAM EDNA May 9, 2004, 17:01 A complete reverse called the meatles would be stunning.
Try singing enter sandman to twist and shout
cmon cmon baby nooooow
Exit light (exit light)
Enter night (enter night)
sorry i am slightly drunk
postal postie May 9, 2004, 17:57 'got to get you trapped under ice'
'the thing that should not let it be'
'everyone's got a ticket to ride except me and my lightning'
are just some of the song titles to beatallica.
i suppose this could go to the re-mix songs as well.
i did hear a song which had lyrics to genie in a bottle with the music of 'the strokes' that was pretty darn good.
comababy May 9, 2004, 18:30 Ever heard of Dread Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin tunes with a Reggae beat and an enormous Elvis impersonator (Tortelvis) on vocals?
They made a stir in the early nineties with their cover of 'Whole Lotta Love' and had an amusing run-in with Gloria Hunniford during a radio interview. She noticed the large ring on Tortelvis' hand and Tort, in full mock-Elvis mode, asked if she'd like to kiss it. No, she replied, I'll kiss your ring later.
Mariska May 10, 2004, 02:58 I suppose you've all heard Bjorn Again, a send up of ABBA.
Mr. Biscuit May 10, 2004, 09:52 Aah - Dread Zeppelin were fantastic!
World Of Weird May 10, 2004, 15:27 There used to be a band in Suffolk called Quoasis - they performed Oasis songs in the manner of Status Quo.
Doesn't take a huge leap of the imagination, I know.
Years ago I saw an Abba tribute band perform 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. I'm still scarred by that memory.
Mikey G May 11, 2004, 06:49 The Mekons, creators of the punk classic `Where were you'
have now become a punk/country hybrid band.
Postal Postie, that would be Speedway. I think Q put the two original songs together on their channel. Sounded awful.

There used to be a band in Suffolk called Quoasis
... Which derived from Blur labelling Oasis as Quoasis. I remember the t-shirts...
thesmileyone May 11, 2004, 11:04 Surely Primus have to be the ultimate hybrid band?
