View Full Version : Fuel prices (gas-petrol-whatever)
jeff55v Jul 24, 2002, 14:43 Here in Illinois United States we have to pay $1.39 per gallon of gasoline.
I don't know the conversion of gallons to liters, Maybe someone could help me out there.
I wanted to find out what you guys around the world have to pay for the equivalent amount of gasoline.
Here is the money conversion:
1.39 U.S. dollars equals: 1.39 euro
2.20 Canadian dollar
.88 G.B. pounds
2.73 German deutsche marks
2.58 Australian dollar
161.54 Japanese yen
13.50 Mexican pesos
netniV Jul 24, 2002, 14:50 Hmm... our prices are just under that by about 10p a litre.
us gallon = 3.8 liters roughly.
our gas in Southern Alberta is only 1.59 per gallon
simeon Jul 24, 2002, 18:55 so you pay 10pence more for a GALLON,than we pay for a LITRE.
YOU BASTARDS!
catch_52 Jul 25, 2002, 01:48 1.49 here in the middle of california. last year it was closer to 2.19
regular arm
mid-grade leg
supreme first born
diesel .39
fucken lucky truckers
mark knipe Jul 25, 2002, 05:53 We pay between 72 and 83 cents (australian) per litre, depending on the time of the week and the service station.
jeff55v Jul 25, 2002, 06:59 Thanks CAPAC for the conversion of gallons to liters!
So if 3.8 liters = 1 gallon then...
1.39 per gallon would be about 0.37 U.S.D. per liter
U.S. converted prices below per liter:
0.37 euros
0.58 canadian dollars
0.23 G.B.P.
43.05 Japanese Yen
0.68 Australian dollars
3.58 Mexican Pesos
If my figures are right thats about what we pay for the stuff here in the U.S.
So how does that compare to you people in the rest of the world? And thanks everyone who already responded.
Lintuk Jul 25, 2002, 20:45 Hmph. Just pinch the old man's car if I need to go long distance, then bung him a tenner for petrol.
What's wrong with a bike?
We pay around 72p per litre here in South Wales (that's old not New)
dave brown Jul 30, 2002, 21:04 I know.......lets all make up a number plate thats identicle to each others.....then go and fill up...... then do a runner !
That'll confuse the buggers !!
Is it worth a try then?
jeff55v Jul 31, 2002, 06:32 Hhmmmm... I dunno dave. I think then the police would just arrest EVERYONE they find with those plates.
Hey... you wanna know something I do to confuse people? Our gas pumps around here have three different hoses and nozzles to choose from. The customer lifts and uses the nozzle that dispenses the grade of gas he or she prefers.
I like to lift the nozzles up and put them in the wrong place. Then the pump will not work because the customer turns on the pump for the wrong nozzle!
Gentreau Jul 31, 2002, 15:26 Last time I was in France (May) we were paying 80c per litre
for Diesel and 1 Euro per litre for petrol.
Yesterday I filled up my car for $22 ($1.40 / gallon)
at least there's one good thing about being in the US.....
bubbavirus Jul 31, 2002, 16:57 Last ime i filled up my lorrie, (it has tanks on both sides/ i usually fiil just one side only), the damn gas station was out of all gas, so I bought a case of beer, and went to another station to get gas,
It takes about the cost of two cases of beer, to fill a full size automobile here.
Andy has a small 4 cylinder Hyundai, 1998, and it takes about the cost of 1 case of beer to fill it up.
Beer standard?
jeff55v Aug 2, 2002, 06:14 Good idea on the beer standard, Bubbavirus.
And Gentreau, You paid 1 euro per liter of petrol.
In the U.S. we pay 0.37 euro per liter.
I suppose thats why we have such big cars in the U.S. (cheap fuel)
If I had to pour beer in my car for fuel... I'd drink the
beer and walk!

In England we pay about 71.8 pence per litre.
And there roughly 4.5 litres per gallon.
bubbavirus Aug 3, 2002, 19:06 When I was a kid,
petrol was $0.22 / gallon;
cigarettes were $0.22 / pack,
and a round trip on the bus was,
$0.22
