View Full Version : Are all comebacks bad?

The Pixies did their first gig in the States two weeks with the orginal line up. Along with REM and The Smiths they saved the dreadful 1980s. Dolittle is one of my favourite albums, and Number 13 baby one of my favourite songs.

But I fear the worst. I can't think of one example of where a band has made a comeback that has lived up to expectations.

Apparently the Pixies have been absolutely fantastic on the dates in the US...

I'm still holding out for the second coming of The Stone Roses.....

As long as all the original members are onboard the come backs are ok.
The likes of guns n roses with only one member is poo.

The Pixies are not your average band though.
I'm a bit apprehensive about seeing them in case they fall apart , but i'm still optimistic.

exodus have made a stunning comeback after some 9 years or so.
and death angel.

in fact theres a massive resurgence in old 80's thrash coming back. i just hope metallica see the light and make another kill em all.

I can't wait for the Menswear revival. Surely the time is right.

I want Gary Glitter and Alvin Stardust on a double bill, with David Essex as special guest - "Baby see the Laaaamp light"!

the wildhearts have been awesome this time round, its even a kind of 'dream team' band, with CJ and stidi back in the line up. Jon Poole's great too, but its odd not seeing Danny

I lost all faith in the wildhearts years ago, they were/are a stunning live band and did some very good stuff (sick of drugs is my fav)
What I really liked about them was the pure quality of their B-sides all of them good enough to be singles themselves.
but there is only som many times you can see the reunion tour.

I heard three colours red have reformed, I shed tears( ok I bawled like a bitch) when they played their "last" gig at reading, and I am a little scared incase they suck.

pardon?, we've had our disagreements here and there (have we? i'm just covering the bases) but you're love for no.13 baby has brought us closer than ever before. someone hold me.
you know which reunion i would have loved to see? the 1997 jane's addiction tour when kettlewhistle came out.

Hmmmm... not sure probably. But any fan of No.13 baby must be all right. And you know, the idiots at The Pixies record company didn't even put this wonderful track on their greatest hits.

The worst reunions:

- The Sex Pistols (somethings are so good they can never be matched)
- The Who (I suppose you can argue they never broke up but 60 yr olds singing I'm gonna die before I get old is a bit silly)
- The Undertones (how can it be a reunion if Fergal isn't singing?)

I'll admit Jan'e Addiction is the exception that proves the rule.

Ok, well-spotted, but the point still stands doesn't it?

I hear Megadeth are making a comeback. They've got a new single out called 'Kick the Chair'. Haven't heard it yet. No idea who is going to be in the band besides Dave Mustaine.

Pink Floyd - Nick Mason must have had his eyes on some new cars I suspect. I would see them if they toured again.

The Bangles comeback was very very good.

Fuck you all, it WAS!

Don't bother. I saw Roger Waters on his last solo tour and for my money it's much more exciting to see and hear him doing 'Money' or 'Wish You Were Here' than the other three old duffers.

What about Shed Seven?

Shed Seven are amazing live ( except for the last time I went to see them when Mr Witter was so off his face he kept falling over when dancing, not a pretty sight.)

Peter Andre

Does that answer the original question?
