View Full Version : Predictions for France vs England Mikey G Jun 9, 2004, 15:17 1-1 Boring game, neither side wanting to lose. Flip Flopper Jun 9, 2004, 15:29 0-0 ........... Dazzla Jun 9, 2004, 15:29 2-1 to France. Sorry, dudes, but they'[ve got actual football players as opposed to cardboard cut-outs of Banks, Moore and Charlton. hugo-a-gogo Jun 9, 2004, 15:44 France will win, James will make a huge fuck-up, Beckham will get at least a yellow card TRIKSHOT29 Jun 9, 2004, 18:03 I think England will get after them. 2-1 England. zed247 Jun 9, 2004, 18:13 Either a draw, or France to win, though I wouldn't rule out England coming back and stealing it. There's my prediction. A draw, or one of them to win. GreebStreebling Jun 9, 2004, 20:16 France will be psyched-up to get off to a flyer after they fucked up 2002, England would be delighted with a draw. 2-0 France Royster Jun 9, 2004, 20:47 a 0-0 bore-draw UnoChild Jun 9, 2004, 21:19 3-1 France I reckon. I'm trying to be optimistic, but just look at the current form of France's players.. butchspangly Jun 9, 2004, 21:19 1 - 1 Henry for France approx 4 mins into 2nd half. Rooney equalise on 65 mins!!!! what odds can I get on that I wonder? :D marleyb Jun 9, 2004, 23:11 3-0 to france but i sure hope i am wrong.... bubbavirus Jun 9, 2004, 23:13 clueless no clue clue less clueless Lurk Jun 10, 2004, 00:05 Everyones going on about how shit James is which is true. But Barthez isn't exactly the safest pair of hands either. So thats were England stand a chance. Wee Dougie Jun 10, 2004, 08:20 I reckon it will be a draw and will probably stick a tenner on it. Eertamai Jun 10, 2004, 09:15 I reckon it all depends on who scores first. If France score first it will probably be curtains for Beckham & Co as England aren't the best at going after teams and chasing the game, which would also leave them open to Henry and Pires on the counter. If England score first they could be in with a chance, confidence would rise and they could sneak it. Saying all that, I'm going to play safe and say 1-1 :D Madd_un Jun 10, 2004, 10:06 i think Butch has it spot on! it would be bloody typical for Roony to get an equaliser and stick you to his critics! Rustnever Jun 11, 2004, 23:04 2-1 to France.................hopefully :P England's best result at an European Championship final round is third place in 1968 and reaching the semi-finals in 1996. England failed to proceed from the Group phase on all other occasions when they have participated (1980, 1988, 1992 and 2000). England have never successfully negotiated a group phase at a European Championship outside England. England have never won their opening match in the European Championship No country has ever won the World Cup or European Championship with a foreign manager. Oh Yeah France are currently on a streak of 11 matches without conceding a goal. Their last match without a clean sheet was on 26 June 2003 when Turkey scored twice against Les Bleus in the Confederations Cup. xyz913 Jun 11, 2004, 23:22 England to take an early lead, courtesy of a Sol Campbell header in the 9th minute. France hit back five minutes later through a trademark volley from Zidane. The rest of the game will be an edgy, tense affair, unfortunately with Thierry Henry winning it for France after a David James fumble in the 87th minute. This is true. staysinvegas Jun 13, 2004, 00:32 I feel a great deal of animus towards both teams (though i love both countries), so i really don't have a favourite. The only thing tipping the scales for me is the fact that the English squad is too cocky (and fucking boring!) and the french squad, other than Zidane, has no real flair (i for one do not subscribe to the henry as next-big-thing theory). GreebStreebling Jun 13, 2004, 00:34 John Terry's out, they should have taken Wes Brown. If they play Carragher (looks like they won't) I'll laugh my little cotton socks off. staysinvegas Jun 13, 2004, 00:41 What's with all the hype over this Rooney fellow? Much ado about nothing? GreebStreebling Jun 13, 2004, 03:26 England have been desperate for a pie-guzzling wizard since Gascoigne. From what little I've seen of him Rooney looks a top player. And sjcooper, it's been shown statistically that statistics are wrong Rustnever Jun 14, 2004, 10:32 England have been desperate for a pie-guzzling wizard since Gascoigne. From what little I've seen of him Rooney looks a top player. And sjcooper, it's been shown statistically that statistics are wrong except this time :)) ALLEZ Les Bleus Royster Jun 14, 2004, 19:45 ....has no real flair eh?? Zidane, Henry, Pires, Vieira, Trezeguet (ok hes not 'AS' flairy as the others) Also while id never say Henry would rival Zidane for ability, you just have to watch him the last 3 seasons for Arsenal to see the guy is one of the best in Europe if not the world But everyone has their own opinion :) |
