Right, I know it's a couple of days away, but the importance of this match cannot be understated now. England must win. How though, do you motivate the players after they gifted France a 2-1 victory?

I think England will win fairly comfortably. Switzerland don't have a very good side, Hakan Yakin and Chapuisat being the main threats. England shouldn't have much of an issue keeping them at bay, and if Rooney is as lively as he was against the French, he will cause problems.

Prediction: England 2 - 0 Switzerland

I'd predict a win aswell, although i have a funny feeling about it. Sure we'll fuck it up some how (probably by bringing Heskey on)

The Swiss will be better against England than they were against Croatia. Chapuisat looks past it and they will miss Vogel who protects the back four. Yakin looks lively and is the only real dangerman. England should be able to have much more pocession and will surely win.

Dazzla is right. The Swiss are useless, and have 1 or 2 alright players. I'm not taking anything for granted though...

Why not partner Heskey and Owen together from the start? That way we can guarantee the Swiss we won't score against them.

I will buy lots of toblerone in anticipation of another frenzy of schadenfreude. However, England, will win with an 89th minute Heskey header and I will be forced to give everyone triangular christmas presents.

Spose it all depends on how much injury time the ref decides to play though.

With England v France I got the score right, the order in which each team scored, Zidane scoring a goal and the fact that David James would mess up at the end. So this is obviously true:

Switzerland will take a shock lead in the 5th minute, with Stephane Chapuisat breaking his goal scoring drought. They will hold on until just before half time, as Steven Gerrard makes up for his mistake against France with a cracker from 20 yards. England come out renewed in the second half, with a Wayne Rooney tap-in and a trademark Beckham free kick sealing a comfortable 3-1 win.

I predict the commentators will be as partizan and arrogant as ever which will further turn any Celtic neutrals against the English cause.

They have only one star that being Hakan Yakin. (Chapuisat is no longer a star, actually he looks woefully inadequate)

But saying that im not going to expect a win as England are capable of anything.

I do get the feeling (and granted, i'm neither for nor against the english squad) that rooney is itching for a red card... he doesn't seem able to control his temper, and he seems the type to dispute with the ref. Maybe it's his age. Sven (i've forgotten the last name) should rein him in a bit.

Ahhhrrgggghh, why the diamond? Lampard and Gerrard horribly out of position and a lot of emphasis on Scholes who has not performed to his true ability for years. Everyone knows a flat four is the best for England so why change it.
