To be honest there wasnt much between Bulgaria and Sweden in terms of play and i think the score somewhat flattered the Swedes and put the Bulgarians in a worse light than they deserved. The bottom line was Sweden were far more clinical with their chances. Larssons two goals were superb, especially his header. I cant help but feel though that Ljundbergs goal was offside on maybe two counts, as i feel Ibrahimovic was just offside when the ball was threaded through to him and when he squared it i was sure Ljundberg didnt check his run and was offside also, but thats all means nothing now anyway. I feel the Bulgarians deserved a goal at least, especially as even though they conceded those two in 70 odd seconds they still had their heads up and were looking to score. Actually if it wasnt for Martin Petrov's chance just going wide, the game could of been different, but as it was Sweden went up the other end and just popped in two, which killed the game. Well fair play to the Swedes and playing like that they have no reason to fear the Italians at all. Oh one last thing, Ibrahimovic's cheeky back-heeled through ball to Ljundberg was probably the skill of the tournament so far. Awesome vision if i do say so myself :) Phillip J Fry Jun 14, 2004, 20:49 Larsson. King of kings. Flip Gubbins Jun 14, 2004, 20:53 Quite, A top man!! netniV Jun 14, 2004, 21:48 I felt sorry for bulgaria. They showed a passion and style of passing that Sweden couldn't match in the first half. However, following that early goal and then a second I didn't watch any more because it was already too late by then I felt. Mr Fall Jun 14, 2004, 22:13 I think this group is going to be tighter than expected. After seeing the way Sweden and Denmark play today I wouldn't be surprised if Italy didn't make it to the quarter finals. GreebStreebling Jun 14, 2004, 22:30 Odd thing to say after a 5-0 defeat but Bulgaria were much better than I expected. They'll need to work on that off-side trap though or the Danes 'll cut them to ribbons. And Petrov - captain? What's that all about? marleyb Jun 14, 2004, 23:13 did you hear what the sweden fans started singing when they went 5-0 up.. "its just like watching hull city" :P so much for me winning the sweepstake down on the harbour i drew out bulgaria :(( Jedichef Jun 15, 2004, 00:24 now i'm a rangers fan so larsen aint my favourite player but he was fucking outstanding. better than he played in any scottish game, ever. GreebStreebling Jun 15, 2004, 00:31 :haha: Bitter? (I don't support Celtic; you're talking arse and you know it) Let's face it the SPL is a joke league but that doesn't stop Larsen from being class UnoChild Jun 15, 2004, 08:12 Best game of Euro 2004 so far. The game was wide open until the second half, then boom - Henrik Larsson - what a striker. I don't think the scoreline did Bulgaria justice as up until the last 20-25 minutes played extremely well going forward - they just failed to penetrate the Swedish defence - which was fantastic. In the end Swedens superiority shone through, and they could actually be a force to be reckoned with in this tournament (hopefully anyway, as they are my team in the Top dogs sweepstake!!). Can't wait for Italy V Sweden. netniV Jun 15, 2004, 09:18 I personally don't think Sweden will be a force to be reckoned with. In fact, nobody in this group really shone out that much. Admittedly though the Italy game looked a lot worse which makes you wonder if they will make it. |
