Thats a relief. The scoreline flattered a touch I think. Now as long as France win later, all we need is a draw on Monday.Bring on Greece in the quarters!

Yes the score flattered us massively. Ok we won but we were really really poor and if we keep playing like that theres bloody no chance. The only time we looked good was a few spells in the last ten minutes of the game, other than that we couldnt keep possession, we had no movement and no ideas going forward. Just long balls all the while.

I couldnt help but notice that even though Switzerland are arguably one of the weakest teams in the tournament, every single one of their players were competent at controlling and passing the ball. While were were constantly having heavy first touches and wayward passing (short or long...actually our long passing was usually a bit more accurate).

Dont get me wrong of course im very happy we won, super duper happy in fact, but i have no real sense of statisfaction to be honest. Against a stronger team we wouldnt of even scored one playing like that. But on the plus side again we were sound defensively and again our best player was Rooney even though he didnt really have a great game.

Oh well the Croatians next...hopefully France can really demoralise them for us.

Oh and two more things, i would just like to see England play with more attacking urgency instead of camping in our own half all the time and secondly while thankfull we have finally kept a clean sheet at long last some of James's decisions were a little worrying.

Woo! 3-0!! Ok, ok... so we didn't play that well, but it's the result that counts. We were very clinical and Roonaldo was awesome... again.

Bring on Croatia!!

But England still qualify with a draw on Monday.England would have 4 points but Croatia would only have 3.Not that I think England will scrape through by the skin of their teeth or anything.Ahem

Roonaldo was awesome... again.

Ok he has been one of our better players and yes he does have some raw talent and maybe my idea of awesome is different to yours....but i fail to see which games he was "awesome" in...hes been good, but far from awesome in my opinion.

Maybe it's the fact that he's the only player we've got who always looks like he's going to do something. Whenever he's got the ball.. you feel something could happen.

I know a lot of people have said it, but doesn't he just remind you of a young Paul Gascoigne?

Well, that was the first really bad game of the tournament.

An offside goal, a fluke, a harsh sending off, and an admittedly very good third goal - when you eventualy do get knocked out (come on ma bony Greecian boys) you'll have a cheek if you play the usual "bad luck" card.

I have to say I think Rooney is / will be better than Gascoigne (still not as good as James McFadden though)

Surely Sven's seen enough to cop on that Scholes is wasted on the left?

if we stop picking owen we might just have a chance of doing ok
in euro 2004.

in 2 games so far i dont think owen has had a shot on target.

just watched the game at 3.am as i was at work and missed it .

sol campbell has been englands best player so far.

scholes and owen have being piss poor....

I thought we did OK last night. If you can win 3-0 without reaching your best then you are doing well. IMO. I think this year is England's most likely tournament to win since 1996.

England didn't deserve the scoreline, and seem to be unable to keep decent pocession of the ball. It's getting really frustrating at how England never put a sustained period of passing together and end up playing longish balls forward that carry a good chance of being cut out or disrupted.

Lets face it Switzerland were wank and were only ever going to score from an England mistake at a set piece. England scored good goals, with Rooney being well on side for his first goal (thank you Greeb) and a good move for Gerrard's. I'm happy with the result but this business of never keeping the ball means that it's unlikely England can win the whole thing.

Croatia will be tougher but I can't see them beating England.
