Cracking game, well controlled. The goals were just waiting to happen. Just wish Owen could have netted, he worked hard tonight, fairplay to him.

But what about that header by Rooney?

Well done the England (oh it pains me to say that) - first time in years they've played to their potential, i.e. the majority of individual players playing for their country at the level to which they play for their club team. If they keep that up they could win the tournament, good job they won't.

For the first time that I can remember, England kept pocession of the ball for sustained periods. Add to that they had slick passing and movement at times, with the majority of passes along the ground, it looked like the moves were actually going somewhere. Michael Owen had his best game and Rooney was fantastic with his deep play and midfield link up. It was the best performance I've seen from Sven's England.

If England can play like this for the rest of their tournament, they can seriously win it!! Plus, Paul Scholes remembered how to score for England!

England did play very well, particularly they kept going forward and attacking instead of trying to sit back and defend their lead
even with ten men behind the ball they can't defend so that is their best strategy

Sadly, on that form, they look like they could beat anyone in this tournament

England were fantastic. Aside from being susceptable on set plays (something we have to work on) the team played excellent. We looked sharp going forward, the movement was excellent and for the first time In a long time, we were confident with the ball and played our natural game.

It would be easy to single out Rooney as the best player, but their were big performances all over. We dominated in midfield, and apart from the two silly set pieces, they never looked like scoring. Even James (dare I say it) looked comfortable.

Bring on Portugal!!

I have to say that Owen was given enough chances at the end of the game, but was unable to score. At least he played better, which can only be a good thing.

It was a great result but IMHO I still think they played better against France. I know all the talk is about Rooney at the moment (rightly so) but the most outstanding player over all 3 games has to be Sol Campbell. I can't remember him putting a foot wrong yet and last night nearly scored from the corner.

I think whats been happening is that the defences have been concentrating on Owen, leaving Rooney with a little space. Now they are going to be sitting on Rooney, allowing Owen a little more space to run at the defence.

Even James (dare I say it) looked comfortable.

Now youve done it!!! :D
