Marlon Brando is dead (http://www.newsday.com/ny-etbrando0702,0,6128699.story?coll=ny-top-span-headlines) aged 80. :(

I would imagine most of us remember him for his roles in The Godfather and Apocalypse Now.

From Apocalypse Now:
Kurtz: I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream. That's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight... razor... and surviving.

Pay our respects here...

"We left the camp after we had inoculated the children for Polio, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn't see. We went back there and they had come and hacked off every inoculated arm. There they were in a pile. A ile of little arms. And I remember... I... I... I cried. I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn't know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that. The genius. The will to do that. Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure."

From Apocalypse Now.

Marlon Brando tribute season!

Apparantly they're going to bury him at sea. As yet nobody has decided where the sea will go.

Mister Kurtz, he dead.

Hmmmm sad I suppose but he had become a sad figure. I better get the papers and read up on his obituary for Tuesday's pub quiz.

Favourite Marlon Moment: Stroking his bald head in the shadows of his room in Apocalypse Now. The Horor. The Horror.

May his good films become classics and his bad ones slip into obscurity.

I thought he was alright in 'The Score'. Scary as The Don, but Rebel and Apocolypse were his finest moments. Didn't realise he was 80. he did quite well on reflection.

"I coulda been somebody! I coulda been a contender!" - On the Waterfront.

Whwn he was good, he was great. When he was bad, he was in Mutiny on the Bounty.

So long Marlon. Respect.
