View Full Version : champ man 5 vs football manager 2004
postal postie Jul 16, 2004, 18:02 which will be your choice? hmmmmm? if you have no idea what i'm on about and your probably about to click the 'back' button on your browser, stay for a little while longer while i explain
both games are football management games.
sports interactive who developed the whole of the champman serious are now making football manager.
thank you for your time. :noticeme:
Royster Jul 18, 2004, 16:40 Football Manager because its the original Sports Interactive team...who did so brilliantly until they sold their soul to Eidos
postal postie Jul 18, 2004, 17:18 i would also choose football manager not only because SI are doing it but because cm5 looks utter shite. *i love a reasoned argument :))*
dominoid Jul 19, 2004, 22:20 Football Manager because it's coming out on the gamecube and CM5 isn't, I don't have my own PC yet.
postal postie Jul 20, 2004, 17:29 it's on the game cube? how powerful is a game cube? you'll be luky to run a decent amount of leagues at a fair speed on a 3ghz pentium 4.
dominoid Jul 21, 2004, 21:25 http://www.n-planet.co.uk/gcn/gcn/specs.shtml for tech specs but bear in mind you don't need anywhere near the power from a console as all hardware calla are direct, on a windows PC they have to go through an API layer first. Also the system bus is much higher than on the PC and the memory is on the same bus so latency is drastically reduced.
Bear in mind the original playstation was based on achip no more powerful than a 386 Pc but it could run games which required a 400mhz PC and 3D graphics card
Royster Jul 21, 2004, 21:28 Not knocking the Nintendo playing community here.
But i feel the game will be dumbed down in some respects and cut down, to accomadate the console.
Thats just what i think going on past experiences with PC to Console conversions.
But i do agree that with Consoles they are designed to play games at maximum efficiency so obviously bottlenecks are almost non-existant.
dominoid Jul 21, 2004, 22:31 That's true, thinking about the way premier manager was ct down for the consonle I imagine it probably will do. It'll also probably take up an entire memory card for saved games
postal postie Jul 27, 2004, 17:40 sports interactive are adamant that football manager will not be dumbed down. various top dogs in the company have said that they refuse to dumb down their game, stop improving or adding new leagues just for the sake of it or just to make it run faster. the fact that they say they are going to add another few countries into the data base as well on top of the 43 or so countries league structures that they already have certainly puts my mind at rest.
RonnieJoice Aug 16, 2004, 13:48 Surely that's bad news for users with aging machines though?
I remember I was gutted when I couldn't play CM3 on my old machine and had to buy a new PC just to play it. :(
Anyways, anyone got any pictures of the two games for me to look at?
Goat Rider Aug 16, 2004, 14:09 http://www.championshipmanager.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7758&highlight=break+up <--Is a link to the reasons why they split to making their own games, just ignore the bitching about FM2005 will be better then CM5 and vise versa.
I'm looking forward to both games to be honest and I'm seeing it as a clean slate for the both of them. So I will see which one I prefer once they have been released I hate speculating on games that haven't been released yet because you don't actually know till you actually play the game.
But like I say I'm having a clean slate getting the both of them and which ever I prefer after then I will stick with that one.
postal postie Aug 16, 2004, 17:21 go to sigames.com to find pics of football manager
