when i turned the pc on today nowt happened so i tried a different power lead and it worked. however, when the comp loaded the graphics were huge and blocky on 16-bit like it had restored to its factory setting. its taken me bloody ages to get it back to normal. i dont understand how this has happened.

i ran a spy and virus check and nothing got picked up.

any ideas what happened between me turning it off last night and it not working this morning?

i presume the computer originally started and then cut power instantly. so on second start up it went into safe mode which only allows a certain screen resolution. to reset it all you have to do is right click the desktop go to properties and then settings.

Unless Windoze did an auto update in the background without you knowing and buggered itself up.
Else it could be a system file lost the will to live, can happen.

Do a drive check and defrag.

Failing that pour lighter fluid on it and set it alight.

you coud have had a power surge which messed the computer up. i had one of these a few weeks ago. happily messing around on my comp and then *pop* *bong* the computer turns off. change the lead and it worked again.

when i turned it on nothing happened hence why i changed the power lead (after checking the original hadnt come loose).

it did ask if i wanted to start in safe mode which i didnt but i still got the blocky shit, and did again after turning it off and restarting. its taken me ages fiddling around to get it right, also the screen had a psyreichal (sp?) shape to it, like i was looking at it through a tube. i sorted that with the monitor controls, which i hand't touched previous to that. it worked fine last night.

Sounds like you might have had a power surge or earth'd out and blown the fuse.

Sometimes that can be due to strain on the fuse element, I think.

i am a complete dickend. when i replaced the cable i didnt check the fuse and attached a 5amp and opposed to a 13 amp. suprised the 5 amp worked for 2 days like it did until it blew this evening. probably explians the shitty graphics.

i clearly need a slap.
