View Full Version : Greatest advice a woman has given you
misschicago Jul 23, 2004, 09:03 What's the greatest advice a woman has told you? Something you still remember?
Tonight was my mother's birthday and we all went out for dinner. She said the most amazing things tonight- She is such a beautiful person. We were discussing the subject of passion (artistic drive) and talent and she said
The talented ones are all together different. They are out there trying to save the world, and do everything they can for the rest of them and make a difference, in their anger and frustration.
Don't know if it makes sense there, but I will always remember that.
Does anyone else have something that you were told that you'll always remember as good advice?
:))
I just remembered this one that a Chinese lady told me once:
A man knows.
A woman knows better.
The greatest advice a woman has given me was: never rely on anyone for money
The greatest advice a man has given me: if a man says he needs you, run as fast as you can in the opposite direction (thanks dad!)
My mum said something to me that changed the way i acted...
you, as an attractive woman, have a power over some men, never abuse that.
The greatest piece of advice a woman ever gave me was a friend of my mothers and it was whilst I was recovering from being raped. She said "Dont take it personally, it could have been you, it could just have easily been someone different, it could just as easily have been a sheep or a loaf of bread. That man was out to rape someone that night, and you were just unlucky to fall into his path."
When I started to depersonalise the issue, it became much easier to deal with, and I think the fact that I have a happy and fulfilling sex life now is testament to how right this woman was with what she said, and when she said it.
Mariska Jul 24, 2004, 02:00 My mother-in-law told me to get my sons doing the dishes at an early age. My own mother would consider that as women's work as my brother never had to get off his lazy arse for anything.
To be honest I don't know too many people of either sex whose advice is worth a lot, apart from my boss, but I keep my ears open.
Cyberhun Jul 25, 2004, 09:28 Salsas sig: There is only one man worth your tears and he will never make you cry.
How true is that?
Mariska Jul 25, 2004, 11:53 Got to agree with Cyberhun. I noticed that sig. and thought it was very profound.
For me it had to be the old adage of learning to know your abilitys. Grant me the courage to change the things I am capable of doing, and the serenity to accept the things I cannot, and the wisdom to know the different.
But I do like that thing in my sig, strangely i got it off a greetings card.

And always wipe after you wee.
God bless you nanna, I miss you loads.
SweetGalenas Aug 12, 2004, 00:29 My mother: "Never take any shit from anybody. Stand up for yourself."
my mother often has some pearlers:
"a smile and some cleavage will get you anywhere"
"don't date just one bloke when getting to know them, it's too easy to fall in love with someone just because they're there. Date many, and take your pick."
"If there's one thing you should remember after you've had kids, it's pelvic floor exercises."
And, my favourite:
"Don't squeeze it!"
