View Full Version : Thrush... again????
I don't bloody believe it! I didn't click that being a bit itchy below had to be a sign of something more... I've only been thrush free for 1 week and now I have it back with a vengeance! Why?? I went to the pharmacy to get the 'wonder pill' Diflucan again and they refused to sell it to me, and told me to see my doctor again. They said the fact I had it again so soon was something that needed to be checked out.
They did sell me a Canesten pessary however which I've just shoved up my wotsits. Tomorrow was meant to be a big day for me and my boyfriend, going clubbing wearing my new stockings and suspender basque/bustier thing and a glittery gstring (under some suitably boring clothes) and coming home to bang the night away after winding him up all night with glimpses of underwear, but that's out the fucking window now. Add to that I have PMT, bloated water retention a sodding itchy fuzzbox a lovely discharge which means wearing a pad on normal knickers and my period is a week early AGAIN it's a wonder I get any bloody sex at all no wonder I go on about it so bloody much cuz I'm not getting any!
So anyway... suggestions are welcome, as is advice from those who may have been in this situation before with recurring thrush and irregular periods and whatnot... I've spent all damn week getting myself and my boyfriend wet thinking about friday night out and it's shot to pieces now ><
WelshGirlsRule Jul 29, 2004, 17:03 I get so much thrush its just not funny. I'm actually a bit worried about it and have made an appointment with the GP, because I'm a bit worried there could be an underlying infection or something causing all the recurring attacks.
You can get oral capsules BTW, which avoids you having to shove stuff up your wotsit.
Cystitis is another killer with me. Damn that is fucking painful!!
srawberry_gag Jul 29, 2004, 17:23 I used to suffer so badly from cystitis and thrush that i was forever on creams ,anti-biotics you name it, it was fuckin agony for three weeks of the month.this went on for two years solid.I kid you not when i tell you that the only thing that cleared it up was to stop wearing underware!!! now before you all go "ewww!" i havant suffered a bout of it since....oh yes,if you feel a bit sore and you can bare to do it,a camomile t-bag infused ,strained and then duabed with a cotton wool ball soothes it no end.
I believe cutting down on sugar might help out, as the yeast feeds on it or something. Cotton undies might be a good idea too.
Boy Blue Jul 29, 2004, 18:03 Thrush is often more of a problem if you're taking 'ye pill'. something to do with vaginal pH...
Sorry, not very helpfull, just how it is.
I don't take the pill but I do wear G strings a lot and they're not cotton.... if I wear normal pants they're cotton. I read the Canesten leaflet which listed causes of thrush and the only one that matched is 'menstruation' as my boobs have been sore for a few days now and I've had PMT... maybe this is it :/ I tried to figure out what I did this time and last time which may have triggered it and the only thing I can think of is dildo use. I always use a clean dildo and have used them for a long time... but I stopped using for ages and ages and ages... then I used one with KY jelly round my bf's house and got thrush shortly after... never used it again (coincidentally) and now I just bought a brand new one and used it with KY jelly again a couple of days ago and got the itch right after... I'm wondering if that could be something to do with it.
Thing is I've used both dildos and KY jelly for a long time before this and never had problems.
Hmm.
Im sorry if this is gross or offensive to anyone but it's needs asking .......... Marie when you say discharge what kind do you have... with thrush the discharge you get is like cottage cheese thick creamy if your discharge isn't like that its possible that your discharge is just the normal one you get before or after periods.
Do you use condoms? Reason i ask is if your not using condoms and haven't been for a while the possibility that your bf was also infected with thrush at the same time you was before and he has now reinfected you is there. Also when i used to use condoms i always without fail ended up with Thrush. I once used some of my kids bubble bath and got a very slight case of thrush that cleared up with a pessary. So it's possible it could be the ky or something else toilet wise that your using. I would deffinately lock your thongs away for now and stick to cotton panties for the time being. Hope you get sorted soon because i know how unconfotable it can be. :)
Cyberhun Jul 29, 2004, 20:07 Are you on any antibiotics? As I've heard that can trigger trush.
I personally have never experienced it...(Touches wood) and am very paranoid about getting it so I tend to shy away from bubblebath and only take antibiotics as a last last resort.
I get thrush badly when I am worn down, and touch wood since I have had one of those pro biotic yakult things every day, then I havent had a problem.
Jemm it's a white cottage cheese stuff inside, but goes slightly yellow on my pantyliner. It's definitely not the normal slime you get around period days.
I don't use condoms but since my boyfriend doesn't have thrush it's not from him... right?
However because of his illness he takes antibiotics frequently, and because of that he is given drugs that ward off side effects including thrush... I only got thrush when I was with my boyfriend. I'm worried there's something else that could be a factor, but I'm sure he doesn't have thrush.
well he dosnt have thrush because he's
given drugs that ward off side effects - including thrush
Maybe you're getting whatever causes your thrush from him, he just doesn't display thrush like symptoms because he is on medication to prevent said thrush.
I looked it up on the 'net last night and a lot of causes were listed, too many to be sure about just one. I even found that sex can give me thrush due to damaging the vaginal wall making me more susceptible.
Well the pessary seems to be working... I've got 'chalky' stuff now which indicates it's fully coated my insides, and the inflammation has gone down considerably, leaving only a little right by the opening.
*crosses fingers*
Thanks for your support :) even if I can't get an answer I do feel less anxious when I can share it with someone, can't really talk to my mother about it :x
WelshGirlsRule Jul 30, 2004, 12:50 I sometimes find that the pessaries are the best treatment as they attack the problem right at its source. The soreness and itching are just the worst things about thrush.
The worst times for me to get it are in the summer when its really hot (always get it without fail then), when I'm run down, or after a period (for some reason periods often set off thrush with me, I think its something to do with the menstrual blood altering the alkalinity of the vagina). I've had a dose recently, as I've very stressed (going thru a divorce), the weather is very hot and I've been on antibiotics.
I've also had cystitis recently, probably caused from being in a new relationship and having had a lot more sex than I'm used to having. I've got an appt to see the doctor in a weeks time. The thing that worries me is the apparent "long term damage" than these problems can apparently do in terms of fertility etc. . .
AnthillMob Jul 30, 2004, 18:15 i dont think blokes know when they carry thrush.
i used to suffer badly too but i found not using bubble bath, using a nice soap thats kind to your skin helped as opposed to all thyem poncy soaps helped a lot and wearing comfy cotton pants. i brought some for about 3 quid for 5 in tesco. yep they look like period pants (i.e. pants you wear when youre on)but they are comfy and keep me thrush free.
but some cannisten cream and get you bloke to rub it on his k-nob and dont shag without condoms for a while. not sure how long but until his infection goes.
He doesn't have thrush. He's had it before so I guess he knows if he does or not
It's all gone now :)
DoodleBug Jul 31, 2004, 14:14 Hey, so I'm a bloke chipping in, but it is down to pH of the plumbing. Sometimes the Mrs gets it from sex which I then get, although it clears up in a couple of days for me but can last more for her. It depends on what she has been eating and cut out some things from her diet so long ago I can't remember what it was, but it helped. Condoms used to trigger it too, but we changed our method............................................ ...........anal only.LOL.
trxiegirl71 Aug 2, 2004, 23:05 I got it alot when Catch and I were first together. Turns out it was from the lube that is used on Trojan condoms. We have changed to lifestyles now. I got them alot when I was preggers, I have not have one for about 1 year now thought and my fluffbox is very happy about that.
