My daughter started her's last month and even though I and her older sister have explained to her about monthly cycle etc etc. She is paranoid about comming on again when shes not expecting it and so wears a panty liner all the time now.

I can't remember being like this nor was my older daughter Im just hoping that once she gets used to her cycle she will realise it is oks to not wear anything once her periods finnished.

My mum explained everything to me. I also became the coolest girl in class as I was the first. Its natural for her to be a little anxious. She'll get used to it.

I was the first person in my school to start as well (10 or 11), I was also the first girl to wear a bra (and I wasn't even in the top year). I vividly remember my mum making a big fuss at school because we'd change for PE in the classroom, boys and girls together. I do remember always being very anxious about starting when it was due, always thinking I had when I hadn't.

Being the youngest of three girls my mum had the talk off pat and it never really bothered me (I remember her announcing it proudly to the family though!)

i was like that, completely paranoid that I would be walking down the street and it would be dribbling down my leg. I got over it though, but i must admit it took a while.

When I started mine at 13, I hated it. I felt dirty, smelly and paranoid that someone could tell I was wearing a towel through my skirt/trousers (in those days you couldn't get thin ones they were all chunky mattress types) also I had the most incredible stomach cramps, so bad my back would be twisted with the pain and I'd cry, too embarrassed to tell the nurse who didn't care anyway. If only I'd known all it took was one paracetamol... I stopped getting cramps at about 18 though.

I've never been regular throughout my life for more than a few months at a time but I never used panty liners at all til I was about 20, I never knew when it was going to start til I saw the spots on my knickers then I'd fish a towel out.

I remember trying tampons for AGES in my house, going through about 6 before I finally got one inserted, and then 2 or 3 more til I'd mastered getting it right up inside (no applicator) and made myself sore in the process and frustrated as hell. Now I only use them if I'm going out somewhere nice and don't want to wear period pants under my dress/trousers because they give me stomach cramps too.

These days I wear a panty liner every day after my PMT mood (hazy cuz sometimes it's a false alarm and I'm just a miserable cow for no reason :P) until the period starts, and then one for a few days after. Sometimes I wear them just to feel fresh because they're not expensive.

The only time I've ever appreciated my periods was when they at last came back after coming off the jab, I could have cried with relief then.

Bugger leaving it on all the time.

I couldnt wait to get back to being free!

Marie, i had the most hardcore cramps when i started. It remains as the most painful day of my life, they almost had to strap me down, i was literally thrashing across the room i was in so much pain.

err... yay for womanhood...
