K, so its my birthday a week on tuesday, and Im getting my hair done for my birthday present from mummy in law and sister in law and family. My hair has been growing for ages and the last time I had it cut I was 5 months pregnant, so given that Munch is about to turn 1, was quite some time ago.

So now its rather bally long, which I kind of quite like, but it makes washing my hair quite an unpleasant process because it stays all wet for ages.

Now, I cant decide whether to get it all cut shorter (which thus involves more effort with the styling and stuff that Im never any good at keeping up with both because of the time constraints and the level of co-ordination involved) or to get it cut into a longer style that lets me rough it up and go.

Im also not terribly convinced I suit shorter hair styles anyway what with looking like the Jolly Green Giant, but as Im losing weight my face shape is changing, and I dont know if I might now be able to get away with something a bit shorter.

Anyone got any suggestions? Im so out of touch with whats nice these days and also about to plough towards middle age that Im not confident of making the right choice.

Also Fringe / No Fringe Feedback would be nice, I'll start a poll.

Don;t get it cut short. I hate women with short hair, I think it looks too masculine. Very few women look good with short hair and don't look like lesbians IMO. That's ok if it's the look you;re aiming for but I'm guessing you;re not.

Bangs Stays.

I dont mean really really short like boy length. But at the moment its (see my user pic) *really* quite long.

I say no to the fringe. They are a knightmare to grow out. Perhaps get some layering done to it?

One of the charmed ones got her hair cut short in the later series and reminds me a lot fo Ms Berry.

Thanks for that useful help netters ;)

So far, its looking surprisingly fringe free. Im not thinking full on straight fringe anyway, more of a layery type thingy, maybe. I dunno. At this rate I will have another 6 inches of hair to cut before I make up my mind.

Why do I get this image of Munchy leaning over you doing your hair for you...

Fringes work depending on your length and how fine your hair is ... the finer it is generally the more u can get away with one ... but if your hairs thicker or has a lot of volume on its own you might find it tries to do an impersonation of a fluffball or sticks out when u dont want it to

i'd say no fringe ... from personal experience they have days where u spend longer dealing with them than u do the rest of your hairstyle so if u want something thats quick and easy and u can just deal with ... dont have one

I have waist length hair and in a moment of madness decided to have a fringe cut, my advice is don't do it unless you have badly split ends you will regret it.

I think you can only really pull of a fringe if you're fit.

Thats my male opinion....

I'd love to put forth my ideas on hairstyles but I'd have to see what you look like first.

i just had a haircut this past monday, including bangs, and i'm satisfied. Just make sure you use pomade on the tips to give you some control over how they fall. i would post a photo, but my current comp doesn't have photo resizing capabilities.

p.s. Rammie, you're such a doll!

Hair update.

Still dont know what Im going to do about it. My in-laws made me a soul destroying hair montage for my birthday which I couldnt possibly describe because its so monstrous. I have now therefore decided that the only possible haircut I can opt for is that of Cousin It.

Put the dye on. Didnt go so well. Should have bought two boxes. I forget that it doesnt stretch to a whole head of hair.

So I went to the hairdressers (Andrew Collinge) and got my hair done. Later on, if I drink more wine, I will get Mr Minx to photo me and I will post it.

But, in other news, Andrew Collinge was there. In real life. In a shop bearing his name. Hes gone a bit grey. He walked past me thrice times. Kthnks.

And Im kinda in a not really fringe state. If that makes sense.
