View Full Version : John Otway routine Oct 18, 2002, 17:47 Two hit singles in a 30 year career. Why? I'll tell you why. He's a fucking cunt. Tivert Oct 18, 2002, 22:46 But wasn't it great to see some real instuments being played live on top of the pops.Justin timberlake must of shat his cacks at the sight of all those weird plucked stringed things that made music.Still, timberlake did a nice little dance for all the lickle girls in the front to piss in their knickers with delight. That's where the money's at now aint it? spanky-twoshitz Oct 21, 2002, 00:56 simply for that "can't you hear, my body talking" song he did on the Young Ones. hugo-a-gogo Dec 14, 2002, 11:37 wow that was him? I'll make your body talk in a minute pal gary wilmot Dec 18, 2002, 04:37 he was great in the young ones. It annoys me that we dont see wierdos like him more often. Who's with me? jel-boy Dec 18, 2002, 09:13 fuck me I thought this twat was dead Comeonyouspurs Jan 8, 2003, 01:54 He is a bit annoying, but I defy anyone to say that the likes of Blue and Westlife are better. More power to his elbow I say. da Vinci's goat Jan 9, 2003, 22:57 He teamed up with Wild Willie Barrett on Really Free. Total brain case. I was impressed that he was (a) alive and (b) reasonably compus when Young Ones came around. Evacuate Jan 10, 2003, 13:29 What's up with you,all those new wave era weirdos (Otway,Wreckless Eric,Dury et al) are gods to a man. Bunsen Burner was cunting diabolical though. Merkin Feb 1, 2003, 21:35 NO, not John. Beware of the Flowers, 'Cause I'm Sure They're Gonna Get You Yeh I'll give you Headbutts if L'Otway remains on this list any longer. Release him now. Wild Willy Barrett sorted Feb 18, 2003, 16:24 Release him now! He was so full of humility on Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Let there be more love for him. Wee Dougie Mar 4, 2003, 14:44 You've obviously not seen him live. Pure entertainment. Doesn't take himself seriously. Great bloke BigOtEd Apr 2, 2003, 10:03 Echo the comment about the live show. It is a MUST SEE. Still, any opinion expressed with an obviously limited vocabulary can't be taken too seriously, can it? Bogleven Apr 2, 2003, 18:16 Sometimes it’s hard to argue with such a well rounded and deeply thought out argument especially when it uses such poetic and witty prose, but I shall just make one comment. Last year Otway had a second hit, nothing really exciting or unusual about that, but the thing is loads and loads of folk gave help, expertise, time and support, not for money, not for any reward purely for the enjoyment of taking part. I’d hazard a guess that very few artists could motivate that much enthusiasm from their fan base let alone the media and show biz fraternity which rallied behind Otway. Remember others had tried this and failed miserably, Otway succeeded which says a lot, not bad for a …. BigOtEd Apr 2, 2003, 19:18 Well said! Perhaps it's too easy to fall back on the "It takes one to know one" school of thought, or maybe even 'school' and 'thought' are alien concepts, too. |
