Agreed. He was a genius.

Watched him play in Australia a few years ago in a World All Stars XI v the Socceroos. You may ask how Le Tissier got in the team but by the time the match was played all the big stars that had been billed to play (Ronaldo, Zidane etc) hadn't turned up. Essentially the word went out for ANY professional footballers who may be in the country to turn up. Big Matt was there on account of his shagging Marilyn from Home and Away. Even in a team with a stunning array of nobodies he only got 5 minutes at the end. We then had to witness the excruciating embarrassment of him trying to swap his shirt with a Socceroo player - any Socceroo player - none of whom were interested as they all wanted the Brazilians'. Priceless.

Fair comment on the Socceroo shirt, far be it from me to imply that anyone should want one. Don't think Fat Matt can be categorised as annoying, and most definitely not more so than Hucknall.

He did score some of the best goals the Premiership's ever seen. Definitely not in the same annoying league as Hucknob.

i saw him at the Beach Soccer tournament in Brighton last year. He was included as some sort of South Coast ticket-selling tool, and the sight of him waddling onto the sand, the fattest man in the tournament (which included Le Dieu, Cantona) just four weeks after he was playing Premiership football, was frankly embarrassing. Not to mention fucking funny.
