Geeks of a certain age are getting excited already, www.transformersmovie.com has a trailer for the new live action/CGI Transformers film coming out next year

debate all over the net about 'why isn't Bumblebee a VW Beetle?, that sucks ass!' :haha:

lots of pics have been put up and then deleted by dreamworks, but there are some here, on this
russki site (http://kino-express.ru/stills/transformers)

like the detail on what is presumably a Decepticon police car - "to punish and enslave..." on the side

The other 'goody boss' Ultra Magnus was blue.

Can't wait to see Megatron.. dunno what they're gonna do though.. he turned into a hand gun.. can't see how that'll work.

Confused.

The top picture looks like Rodimus Prime.. (who was the 'chosen one' that evolved from Hot Rod - containing the 'spirit' of Optimus Prime).

Hot Rod isn't on the list of Transformers appearing.

I'll be gutted if that's Optimus Prime.. nowt fucking like him.

Yes, it's the Primester, or so it seems.

I've been seeing these designs, plus others, on other film sites, and the controversy couldn't be higher. I think they're fine, and seem to have been designed with actual physical movement in mind, something the original designs weren't perhaps practical for. What you can get away with in animation may not be possible (or just look silly) with live action.

Nice.

What I remember from childhood is that there was always an only child who was spoiled by his extremely well off parents and while you were trying to impress your mates with your solitary new toy, he'd have the whole collection. That was this guy....

Awesome indeed. On several film sites today: Optimus vs Bonecrusher.

It certainly looks very Michael Bay. This could well "Rock" methinks.

according to Empire, If three 'bots are on screen at one time, it's taking the graphics computer 38 hours to render each frame

according to Empire, If three 'bots are on screen at one time, it's taking the graphics computer 38 hours to render each frame

really?

They must have a fair few computers working on it then, because by my quick calculations*, if only 10 minutes of the film has 3 bots on screen at anyone time, it'll take 65 years for one such computer to render it. (71 years for NTSC !)

*
((600 seconds x 25 Frames x 38 hours) / 24 hours / 365 days) = Processing years

I was never much of a transformers fan, I think I just missed the 'cut' age wise, Star wars was/is my thing, but this does look good admittedly, however, let's all take time to remember He-man shall we:)

Optimus Prime looks wrong.

I cried when he died in the original film. I don't think i'd be arsed if that ugly thing popped it's clogs.

I'm kinda concerned from the trailers

The boy and the usual hot pouty girl seem to be the focus with the Transformers as secondary cast

kinda like superman was a bit player in his own movie next to richard prior (superman 3).

FFS why not make the total focus of the movie the machines and their society...!

why the chick with the tight t-shirt for the transformers to save when she get into peril every 10 seconds.

I heard Spielberg was behind those ads in order to try out the technology for the movie.

At a guess, I'd say they aren't showing much 'bot so they make more of an impact at the cinema....It's never gonna look as good at home as when you first see them on a giant screen

I nearly threw something at the telly yesterday morning.

Lorraine Kelly and that queer bloke forget his name (but he's queer). Puts Transformers trailer on.

Oh, that looks really good. I expected it to be really naff and cheesy like the cartoons.

FUCK YOU YOU GROLLER SHOWING BITCH!1!!

It does look good. Michael Bay seems a pretty cheesy director, but this sort of thing is perfect for him.

Next they should make a Zoids film..

Zoids would be awesome. I still love zoids - bought two last year for nostalgic reasons....

I'd also like to see a really decent Heman film which was truer to the original cartoon than the silly Masters of the Universe film was. (E.g. actually have Battlecat)

I thought it was fuckin 'a. Awesome special effects and big fuck off robots smashing shit up n stuff. Cheesy dialogue, but it is based on an 80's cartoon with talking robots.

Optimus Prime reclaims his place as the shiznit.

The action is fast and furious, the special effects are top notch IMO, the Cars transforming into the AutoBots is fast but you can see what`s happening.

It`s not all Robots, there is a human element to it also.

The end battle in the movie is a good one, two giant Robots, Optimus Prime and Megatron, battle it out and the humans Battle it out with the Deceptacons

I totally thought I wouldn't enjoy this film, mostly because I never got into the series as a kid, partly due to being a girl but mainly because I was really anti the whole idea of cartoons being created simply to sell shed loads of toys for Mattell. I was fervently anti-capitalist even at that tender age, it drove my mother mad!

Having said that, though, when Smorf sat down to watch it on the PC, I sat on the sofas behind him and got completely absorbed to the point where I not only watched it right to the end but was also asking him which bot was which. I thought Bumble-bee was charming but I guess that was the point...

I thoroughly enjoyed the film, but I won't be tempted to go back and watch the cartoons for previously stated reasons.

Saw it with me free tickets last night. It was alright. Not 'OHMYGOD!TRANSFORMERS!AWESOME!!111ONEONEONE' although I never expected that, but it was entertaining and worth watching. Couple of funny moments and the action bits were cool. I'd have paid to see it
