I've just bought the box set of every film he's directed from Salvador up to Any Given Sunday. Well almost every film, for some unknown reason Nixon isn't included. Great set though, not a bad film in there.

I`ll bring the popcorn Which one would you watch first? gwyatt Sep 1, 2006, 16:25 I can't stand him. Supreme polemicist. Only decent film he's done IMO is Salvador. Platoon, Wall Street, JFK alll annoyed the shit out of me. seabreeze Sep 1, 2006, 16:28 Wall Street Platoon Midnight Express There are others that I like but that would do for starters He didn`t direct Midnight Express I don` think will change that for Any Given Sunday Flip Flopper Sep 2, 2006, 10:51 He's been shooting his mouth off again. About war movies this time: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/5306324.stm I liked Platoon, Wall St, JFK and Salvador. Natural Born Criminals was rank. magicguppy Sep 2, 2006, 15:13 Midnight Express was that english bloke who I get mixed up with Ridley Scott. Mett him once, but can't remember his name. Lord summit Anyway, Stone has lost the plot - One word - Alexander. I'm not going to start ranting about it, I promise, I've got things to do today, I can't afford to even start thinking about that movie and the way it made me feel. Anyway, Putnam, David Putnam - he made Midnight Express. comababy Sep 2, 2006, 19:06 Puttnam produced Midnight Express, but it was Alan Parker who directed. /anorak off. Stone: A few points of interest (he can write a good, thick-ear screenplay, such as Scarface, or Year of the Dragon), but usually far too bludgeoning in his politics. I notice these comments of his are made just as his WTC film is about to be released. A complete washout, apparently. dexcel13 Sep 3, 2006, 00:35 ANy Given Sunday was a class film, haven't got an interest in American Football at all, but have gone and re-watched that film a number of times. Rewatched JFK as well the other day, was better than i remember it, used to find Kevin Cosner really anoying, jsut lookign at him he always seems a little phony like he's only half hearted in the film. Keith Skedge Sep 3, 2006, 10:02 Natural Born Killers is a great film. Proper satire. Though I did find myself wondering along with Robert Downey junior why "helicopters were not deployed". butchspangly Sep 3, 2006, 11:26 Rewatched JFK as well the other day, was better than i remember it, used to find Kevin Cosner really anoying, jsut lookign at him he always seems a little phony like he's only half hearted in the film. I used to love JFK, untill I heard about the amount of "artistic liscence" Stone used. For example, the Kevin Bacon did not exist, it was a few different people mixed into one to add weight to his agenda. Will we ever get the "correct" truth regarding that one? magicguppy Sep 3, 2006, 14:32 I used to love JFK, untill I heard about the amount of "artistic liscence" Stone used. For example, the Kevin Bacon did not exist, If only that were true. butchspangly Sep 3, 2006, 15:40 If only that were true. Can you elaborate on that please? Daveyboy Sep 4, 2006, 09:43 Stone did write the screenplay for Midnight Express. Actually another one not in the box set is Talk Radio, which is a shame because it was very good. In breaking news, I just got Alexander in Cash Convertors for £2.50. Is it really that bad? Xavier Sep 4, 2006, 11:46 Can you elaborate on that please? Can't be sure but I bet it was "I wish Kevin Bacon" didn't exist, which in the main part - i'd agree with. thesmileyone Sep 4, 2006, 12:27 I must of been one of a few people who was bored by Any Given Sunday. The only good bits were the eyeball incident and the car cut up with a chainsaw. The rest just sent me to sleep. magicguppy Sep 5, 2006, 15:00 Can't be sure but I bet it was "I wish Kevin Bacon" didn't exist, which in the main part - i'd agree with. Affirmative |
