Hard one, I'm caught between Godfather 2, Apocalypse Now and Rumblefish, but AN gets the nod.

Godfather I. Always preferred it to II but they're both fucking brilliant. Apocalypse Now is very good, but not as good IMO.

I went for 'The Godfather: Part II' mainly because with 'Apocalypse Now' it, to me, is just another Vietnam movie, a genre I'm not overly fond of.

I went for Apocolypse Now , because along with the Deer Hunter they are the difinitive films (for me) of the vietnam war (The Killing Fields was another , but more Cambodian).
But then again , I think Godfather I (and II) , are up there with it .

I would say that the poll would be better off split into genres(ie Coppolas best War Film , Best Gangster Film ,per se.) , after all he's made a lot of films. We owe Francis the virtue of recognising the fact that he's had his fingers in many peoples pies.

I prefer the first ,too (by an equally small margin) , but I always remind myself that the sequel wouldn't be there if it wern't for the prequal. So in times of doubt i always go for the one that got the ball rolling.

I went for Apoc Now, I think it has great music and an intense atmosphere, and above all its realism shows that war is bloody, violent and worthless.

Just thinking about the film makes certain bits of it pop into my head: the opening scene where Sheens character is talking about how he felt after his first tour of duty (being back home and wanting to be back in the jungle and vice versa) the Ride of the Valkyries scene with the reporter the playing cards and that smell! The guys in the helicopter who were more concerned with getting thier balls blown off that thier heads....

An awsome film and awesome film making.

G2, although G1 is pretty much just as good.

Apocalypse Now really disappointed me when I saw it for the first time a few months ago.

Rumblefish for me.

btw - well done for not including the awful Dracula in the list.
