View Full Version : Minx's Food Diary
Day 1
1 "average" sized bowl of shreddies - semi skimmed milk, and a dessertspoon of sugar. (Would ordinarily have sweetener, but my blood sugars were in need of a quick fix this morning)
1 small portion of spicy potato wedges, with a little barbecue sauce on the side for dipping.
1 tesco healthy living beef in red wine sauce with rice & large portion of broccoli.
2 x 2 finger kit-kats
2 large glasses of diet coke
1 cup of tea - semi skimmed milk, two spoons of sweetener (Silver Spoon granulated stuff)
1 glass of no added sugar lemon squash (Munch was playing "lemonade stands", and insisted)
5 a day my arse. :haha:
Should I be bothered that this is the thirteenth thread in this forum???
:rolf: :rolf: :rolf:
hugo-a-gogo Nov 7, 2006, 18:41 dude, shreddies are pretty full of sugar already, skip that (unless you mean shredded wheat)
processed sugar does you no favours
add cinnamon, dats good
and scratch the kit kats, have some sort of muesli bar instead
No! :P
I cant change what I've already eaten, you donkey. Unless you're advocating bulimia as the diet method of choice.
In which case, still no!
At the moment we are still eating whats available in the house due to lack of finances. As soon as I can afford to do a proper shop there will be a distinct improvement in my diet. Probably.
:thumb: re cinnamon recommendation though, I likes cinnamon. However, the only cinnamon in the house is some VERY old stuff in a shaker from the days when I used to make luxury hot chocolates. I'll get some in the next shop.
hugo-a-gogo Nov 7, 2006, 18:54 talking bout in da future mon!
save money by not buying sugar, unless you're making cakes or summat i suppose
shreddies are great though
can't get them here really, have to go to 'the international store', little british and US food shop and pay double for them (and get irn-bru at the same time)
haha. I could possibly save the world from climate change by not buying sugar, however, Mr Minx is a sugar fiend (and has at least 3 in a cup of tea), and its a crafty way to get calories down the Munchkin who is a very very faddy eater at the moment.
As I previously stated, I normally use low cal sweetener, that Silver Spoon stuff is the most closest to sugary taste I have found so far (and contains no elements of Ricky Schroeder). Caloriewise kit-kats are no worse or better than muesli bars, but my stomach lining gets very upset at oats these days so I have to choose wisely when I buy biscuits n stuff. Which is a shame coz Chocolate Chip Trackers are the :dog: BOLLOCKS
Day 2
Two half eaten sausage rolls that munch left from her lunch.
Thats it so far.
Im not setting a very good example, am I?
Mnemosyne Nov 8, 2006, 17:40 yes, but you're not doing badly. If I had your stresses at the moment I'd be binge eating chocolate hob nobs
LordSnot Nov 8, 2006, 19:52 I agree, I'd have eaten half the co-op's chocolate stock if I'd had your recent problems. Have a Break, have a Kit Kat once or twice in a while.
Day 3
Three pieces of peanut butter wholemeal toast and a cup of coffee with sweetener. I know PB is heavy calories but Im craving it at the moment, having just spent four years unable to eat it due to being pregnant/breastfeeding, and now I am neither I bloody well want it at every available opportunity.
Two tuna sandwiches (4 slices of bread) with only a liberal splash of vinegar, on wholemeal bread with low fat flora.
2 two-finger kit-kats.
Several glasses of diet coke, one glass of water, and another cup of coffee that is waiting to be drunk right in front of me right now this minute.
Right. Back on the treadmill.
Lets work back in time to Saturday when I restarted my diet proper.
Breakfast - 2 pieces of toast, low fat sunflower spread and marmite.
Lunch - A spicy sausage from Tescos deli. They were too nice to refuse.

Drinks -
Two glasses of water, 4 coffees with sweetener, and copious diet coke.
Sunday

Drinks as previous.
Tuesday - Breakfast unchanged from previous days.
Lunch - forgot.
Teatime - Entire carton of New Covent Garden Thai Chicken Soup with two slices of wholemeal bread. Made beef stew for everyone else with dumplings but was brave and did not have any due to it being stupidly high calorie.

Lunch - Cheese and crackers again, handful of grapes.
Teatime is george foreman'ed turkey breast with steamed veg and cherry tomatoes and new potatoes.
Supper was a fruit salad, waterymelon, grapes and a clementine. I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would.
Drinks as aforementioned.
Not too bad all in all. Weighed myself again this morning as I obsessionally do in the early stages, and another pound has vanished overnight, so thats 5lb in 4 days! I love it at the beginning when it all falls off quick. I'll only weigh myself once a week when it settles down.
Very good Minx! :)
You haven't mentioned calories... do you count them? 'Cause I've been trying and it makes my brane hurt. I suppose it gets much easier as you learn all the basics, but it's really starting to annoy me, having to calculate everything.
When I was dieting in the past I used ready meals so it was much easier to count the calories and keep on top of things. Nowadays I prefer to "rough guesstimate". I know Im not eating unhealthily and think Im coming in roughly at around 1000-1200 calories per day and thats fine for me. Im taking a vitamin supplement daily, and eating a lot of fruit and veg comparitively than I was before, so if that adds up to a bit over, well (shruggage) I'd rather go a bit over.
Yesterdee.
Breakfast - toast and marmite/coffee
Lunch - Cheese & Crackers & Waterymelon
Tea - Turkey breast, new potatoes, carrots and peas and a giant fruit salad of waterymelon, grapes and clementines.
Lots of coffee and water and diet pop.
Update todays later.
Big weigh in day tomorrow - Im feeling optimistic.
LordSnot Jan 26, 2007, 18:58 Ahem. You have been doing excellently missy, we need to see how you do it. Update. :)

Has your brain broken?
LOL @ broken brain question!
Skinny Cow are a brand of low fat iced dessert or something.
I'm wondering about keeping a food diary but I think it might encourage me to think about food more.
Havent updated my food diary for a while, but basically, Ive been BLOODY good.
Todays intake thus far.
Oatiflakes, sweetener and semiskimmo
Prawn Mayo prepacked good for you sandwich after Asda shop.
Chicken Salad with 4 new potatoes, raw peppers, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, a dessertspoon sized portion of grated red leicester cheese and the same size portion of light mayo.
1 Skinny Cow Minty Choc Chip.
Some water.
A couple of coffees.
Some diet coke.
Most days run along a similar line. I've been back at this for a week now and according to my bathroom scales Im down by 7lb.
lilliililill May 2, 2007, 06:37 Wow that's a lot of weight loss for one week! Is it your first week of really trying? Well done!
Yeah, but I have a fair bit to get shut of, its fairly normal for me to lose a lot in the first week of being regular about it. It'll slow up.
I'm determined to get it right this time and keep it off. Im coming up for the age where your metabolism slows down and middle aged spread kicks in, so before that happens I want to be in a position where I wont have to fight quite so much to stay on top of it, and get my head sorted so I dont feel the need to binge eat, which is one of my danger zones. I feel shitty, so I pig out on comfort crap.
