Probably the funniest film i've seen in a long long time.

I very nearly shat myself with laughter.

You must see this film.

I'd heard that it had been 'tamed' down for the american audience, and was vastly different to when he was on the ali g show (and his own show?); ie not funny.

I take it that isnt the case then.

Well I saw outtakes of it and it wasn't funny, but then I saw him in the UK and he wasn't funny then, either.

One of those Jerry Lewis/Peter Sellars/Jim Carey sort of entertainers, I suppose. Either you absolutely love it or you don't.

but i must disagree. borats new movie is fucking hilarious. i was actually LOLing the entire way through (with a few exceptions at some really awkward moments that make me cringe).

I didn't think smashing stuff in someone's shop was particularly funny. And this new routine where he films himself in some impoverished village and ties a dildo to a cripple hardly sounds like Charlie Chaplin at his side-splitting best. Making fun of antisemitism by baiting those who practice it seems fair, ditto deflating condescending talking heads, the rich and the powerful--but the rest is just creepy, masher-in-the-subway stuff as far as I'm concerned.

Didn't Jackass do that five years ago? Execept they weren't funny either.

I saw this last week I was practically in tears, from laughing so hard. As well as the slapstick, foreigner who doesn't understand the ways comedy there is also a lot of political comedy.

Fuck, this has to be the funniest movie I've seen in the past few years. I could not stop laughing.

I am trying my best to avoid it . I'm not sayiing I was swayed by Mark Kermode , but his resume made me think 3 times.

Saw it last week...funiest film I have seen in a few years....laughed from start to finish

I do like Peter Sellers. But I think some people just absolutely don't get him--same with Carey and Lewis (whom I personally don't get).

i havent seen a lot of sellers, and particularly not whilst i was actually looking for him. but i dont like him too much. he is alright, and i can see why others would like him but.... nah, just doesnt do it for me.

carrey on the other hand is a slapstick master.

Watch 'Dr Strangelove' then....

Sellers plays 3 roles (would've been four but he broke his ankle)

hmmmm i actually watched DSL. god movie, and i will admit sellers playedthe parts well. but uhhh i didnt laugh all that much at his stuff. mind you i was very, very fucked.

The rodeo scene is by far the high point of the Borat film. The rest seemed like Jackass style stunts that grew rapidly tiresome. This is not to say that I didn't enjoy watching him make frat boys look like idiots, or the hoity-toity miss manners' squirming. It just has been done better, and minus the anti-American sentiment, which is I'd imagine what makes it funny to most of you.

i actually hated the bit with the frat boys. it made me squirm and im not surprised they are suing him for using that bit. it was uncalled for to make kids look that bad whilst they were drunk... that shit will follow you around forever.

personally i liked the bit where he gets off their mini bus and throws the bag down on the ground only to hear his chicken shrieking. hahahaha

The studio can clearly afford the court case if it does go to court, but the frat boys did sign releases so they don't really have a foot to stand on, whether or not they were drunk - the controversy and the lawsuits works out as further marketing for the actual film, which makes it even cleverer in my mind.
