Being a cynical bastard I'm not handing in my notice (or breaking out any expensive bubbly) until the letter itself arrives, but my mate who works there says he's definitely seen it so I trust him enough to be chuffed to bits and go around telling everyone :D

Notice - short answer, most likely start first thing next year.

Long answer - it'll be under negotiation, they understand and appreciate that up to a month might be agreed with my current employer. Provisionally, I'll be starting first thing in the new year as that's a fair compromise between the minimum notice period in our "out of date" staff handbook (1 week - and there's no sense in starting a job a week before xmas), and a more thorough month (conversely, there's no sense going back to the current employer for a week or two after the new year)

I'll be starting out as a Web Designer, to restructure and bring together the company website. Once that's done I'll be moved on to other IT duties.

Will be working about 1.5 miles away (as opposed to the current 12 or so) so a 5 minute drive or 30-40 minute walk. Salary will start at 18K, rising to 22 as I prove myself. (As opposed to the 12.5 I'm on now!!). I know for a fact that they treat their staff very well. It'll be so nice to get off this sinking ship :P
