View Full Version : WW MEET! URGENT! READ ME!
Hows about all us weight loss bombers have a get together later in the year?
It'll give us something to aim towards, but long enough so that those of us who have a lot to lose can do so safely without rushing and those who dont can maintain their new weights for a while because they will know they have something to aim to be at their target weight for?
We could go for a nice healthy meal somewhere and celebrate our success.
What do you think?
(I say healthy but I really mean "must involve cake".)
That sounds like a fantastic idea! It'd be fab to meet up with everyone, we could make a proper big day of it.
I'll bring a camera and everything ;)
I'm definately up for it Minx
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!
Its a bit girly, but it wouldnt have to be ;) We could do clothes shopping in one of those groovy London markets :D Boy weightlossers still need clothes, right? ;) Then we could arrange to meet for a meal somewhere afterwards.
Mr Minx was sniggering at me for suggesting a meal. He said I should suggest a real ale festival :D
there's a lovely thai place in camden  they used to do deep fried ice cream...
UnoChild Jan 8, 2007, 15:21 Can I come?
if you're some kind of weight gain/loss, then i dont see why not.
Oooohhh yes please....I love a good social occasion I do.
Count me in for sure :):)

*does a little girly squeal
Yessss. Oh. My. Goth. Topshop in Oxford Street. SO BIG. AEEIIII! We'll have to run around the whole of London getting goodies.
A meal is awesome. We'll find somewhere that's excellent.
I can't wait :D:D:D
Can I come?
You wanted to gain weight didnt you?
Set yourself a target amount and attempt to get there in time and you're in. I dont see why it should be exclusively weight lossers if you need to gain some.
david and goliath
david and goliath
david and goliath
we have to go to that shop please please please

Is there a Dorothy Perkins in Oxford Street too? Top Shop tends to be a bit crap for longer length stuff for Giant minx. Oxford Street rocks though, we can go to Hamleys and play with the toys :D
We could go to Camden in the afternoon and then go to the Thai place that Rammy mentioned for our meal? I'd need to work out train times and stuff to get me back home at some point but Im DEFINITELY up for this.
How about we look at late August as an option? Gives us 8 months to make a significant dint in our weights - its school holidays so most people should be able to book the day off that have work, and we can do a weekday rather than a weekend.
:hyper: :hyper:

If you need a place to stay I'm sure you could stay at my best mates with me Minx! He will be living in Harrow (in London) and I'm sure he wouldn't mind. Otherwise there's somewhere in London that does really cheap hotel rooms that aren't really skanky. I could ask my mates about it, I think they've shared and paid about £10-£15 for a room each.
There'll be a DP somewhere in London, we'll hunt for one :D
Late August is a good idea! Hopefully I'll be around in London at that time anyway...will be moving there in September.
Uno...come and buy sexy jackets with us :hyper:
I obviously cant get the actual train times at this stage, but I doubt they will alter much timetable wise.
I did an initial check on a random date in march, and I reckon I can be in London by 9.15am, but I'd have to be back on the train by 9.10 at night otherwise Im on an overnight train with a long stop somewhere random. If I get on the 9.10 one, then I can be home by midnight. Mind you, we could eat about 5ish, wouldnt have to be a late meal would it?
Definitely will need more planning but WOOHOO!
Im excitored already!
Edit, missed your post before I replied Harmy, that may well be an option, then I could come back next morning. We'll chat about it at some point soon ;) Thanks for the offer! I'll wait and see if Seabreeze is up for it first, because if she is we can travel together.
sallyride Jan 8, 2007, 16:13 Is there a Dorothy Perkins in Oxford Street too? Top Shop tends to be a bit crap for longer length stuff for Giant minx.

there's a long tall sally store off of Baker St:yes:

dominoid Jan 8, 2007, 16:16 Hmm, it's all sounding a bit girly at this stage but did someone say camden? if they did, I'm in.
Thanks Sally!!!
Having just checked the prices on the train tickets, its something stupid to get the earliest train like 200 quid. Theres no way I can afford that, but the one that gets me into London for about 10.35 is only 12.50 if I book it in advance.
Hyper hyper mushroom.
Oft to go and knock up a nice dietary teatime for me and JR Minx who is also on a healthy eating kick.
Yes, Rammy said Camden, they have market dont they?
Besides Dom, you can do fashion advice ;)

Yeah deffo! And if you stay the night...go back in the afternoon!! You don't wanna leave straight away in the morning, make the most of your trip ;)

I'm really butch, so I'm sure we can be manly together
wutangstan Jan 8, 2007, 16:33 I'd like to be part of a meet and greet in general, but I could tie it in with my own personal on the quiet weight loss/toning experiment that I have on going. Mind you, I'm just looking for an excuse to come to London, cos I loves it I do.
seabreeze Jan 8, 2007, 16:58 Thanks for the offer! I'll wait and see if Seabreeze is up for it first, because if she is we can travel together.
I`m up for it depending on exactly when you go as we are away the last couple of weeks in August.
Well tell me the dates you are away and surely we can work round it ;)
We can easily move to early september, would hate you to miss out on all the joy when you've been trying so hard.
seabreeze Jan 8, 2007, 17:48 Holiday dates are from Aug 16 - 2nd September.
I can cancel or work round anything before or after those dates
Well what about a little earlier? Then you could have the excuse of buying clothes for your holidays???
How does everyone else feel about early august?
Early August is braw for me. I'm around and about most of the time and can get to London quite easily.
dominoid Jan 8, 2007, 18:10 as long as you let me know the dates in good time so I can book them off of work then that's cool with me.
seabreeze Jan 8, 2007, 18:17 Suits me. Am into the healthy eating and exercise so will start saving now as well.
should be good for me too.
the thai place is called the silk and spice. do u lush lamb curry thing
Excellent :D
:does a happy dance:
Ok, How does Tuesday 7th August grab you all?
Gives us a nice round 7 months to get those diets well and truly established and most of us, if not all, should have got within range of their targets by then.
Zelda, could you find out what time your Thai place opens? (I'll try and work out how long it takes to get to Euston from Camden.)
Euston to Camden is a really quick journey. Just jump on the Northern line and it's about 10 minutes at the most I think? Don't take my word for it but I'm sure it's real quick.
The 7th sounds great for me :D
sounds good for me too.
i'll call the place tomorrow and check what time they open. we lunching or dining there?
there's another place there as well, i can't remember the name, but they had a nice chicken salad
I dont mind which we do - depends on the shops I guess. We could do Camden in the morning, then lunch there and then head in to the centre for the afternoon if you like? I dont know what time the shops stay open till in Londinium. Makes no odds to me, as long as I get back to Euston by 9 (although I do have the option to stay overnight if I want, Mr Minx is happy enough for me to do that).
dominoid Jan 8, 2007, 20:13 I'm working that day. Saturday the 4th would be far better for me
they open for lunch around 12ish.
The Travel Lodge in Kings Cross does a family room for that date for £75. You can have a maximum of 3 people. £25 each isn't too bad. I will look into more places to stay, but I hear that place is good.
Oh and Camden is always better to tackle earlier in the day, as it gets very crowded sometimes. Those stupid goths!
I'm working that day. Saturday the 4th would be far better for me
Book the day off?
Personally, Id rather go on a week day, saturday shopping in the centre of london doesnt sound like fun fun fun! Also, travel costs at the weekend are waaaay higher from Liverpool to London.
yes, all those misrebale looking 14yr olds that think they look dead hard in their identical clothing.
camden will be better in the morning, like harmy said.
Their terrible make up is very intimidating.
Can we push the goths into the road? They give me a headache when they whine about the new shoes they need to their mummy and block up the lock market. Yuck.
in their regulation black eyeliner with crosses on the outer corners of their eyes :haha:
euston-camden town is 3 minutes on the northern line
I'll look at the specifics of travel a bit nearer the time, but unless I pay a bally fortune to get the earliest train (which Im not, Id rather spend the money on clothes) The earliest Im likely to be in Camden is 11ish.
Unless we happen to end up with a dogbomber that knows a way to get cheap am train tickets. Its the commute time innit.
Id really like to get there super early, but the cheap ticket doesnt seem to start until the 8.15 run.
ignore this post, i was being over-enthusiastic.
The 7th of August is fine with me.
If anyone wants a travel buddy from the West of the country, let me know and we can liaise!
dominoid Jan 8, 2007, 22:14 Where in the west Spice?
/me is in Bristol.
UnoChild Jan 8, 2007, 22:55 mmm.. bristols.
Where in the west Spice?
/me is in Bristol.
I'm in Devizes - so would probably pick up your train in Chippenham?
Ooh, just spotted this thread now... count me in! I will put in for leave when we are decided on the day.
And (looks around nervously and whispers) any dogbombers that would like a place to stay are welcome to crash at Chez GIR for the night, we have a couple of beds, a couple of couches and a couple of blow-up sheep. Er I mean, blow up mattresses.
As long as you're prepared to brave the wilds of Brixton!
dominoid Jan 8, 2007, 23:26 I'm in Devizes - so would probably pick up your train in Chippenham?
The train from Brizzle to london doens't usually go through chippenham. It goes through Swindon though if the chip train goes there or is it direct?
seabreeze Jan 9, 2007, 06:59 7th August is good for me

Swindon is as good as Chippenham for me to pick up a train
is travelling down the day before and shacking up somewhere an option? that way the ticket would be cheapish and you get maximal shopping time.
is travelling down the day before and shacking up somewhere an option? that way the ticket would be cheapish and you get maximal shopping time.
Not a bad idea actually. Travellodges go for about £35 per night near me, and it's about 40 minutes to an hour train journey into the centre of London.
Early August sounds like a good time as far as I'm concerned;I might even be able to put people up, I'll know nearer the time. If anyone living on the london periphery needs a lift in, then I can probably manage that without a problem.
UnoChild Jan 10, 2007, 22:45 I dunno about everyone else, but I have absolutely zero idea what i'll be doing in 7 months time.
Im going to London for the day. ;)
Hey, I have a great idea, LETS MEET UP!!!
OH. WAIT!
WE ARE!
netniV Jan 10, 2007, 23:49 And you didn't even invite me :-P
UnoChild Jan 11, 2007, 08:36 Are you mocking me :meh:
Are you mocking me :meh:
No...
*giggles and whispers something to Minx
NO WAY!
safeasfuck Jan 11, 2007, 15:10 I dunno about everyone else, but I have absolutely zero idea what i'll be doing in 7 months time.
:stupid: yeah, same here
(i may have to apttempt putting on a few pounds, for an excuse for "camden & cake" :D )
Bumped as a reminder and a boost to those of us "on the path".
5 months to go!!!! (Just under...)
Anyone else fancy putting their name down?
Purple_Lou Mar 14, 2007, 20:18 Hello
I'm up for this :D but I might be in Ukraine so no promises! Not sure where I'll be living then but I'll be somewhere! My parents live near London anyway...sorry just rabbitting now...
Yes but maybe :D depending on Ukraine
:|
dogbomb Jun 3, 2007, 23:35 ka-bump. Do we have a fixed date for this? I wanna books tickets and such nice and early.
enourmous david Jun 3, 2007, 23:43 .....5 months to go!!!! (Just under...)....
Now only 2 months or so left :\
/me pedals faster :D
:siren: :siren: BUMP! BUMP! BUMP! :siren: :siren:
Right, who's still up for this then? I reckon nows the time to start getting numbers and such as people travelling far should get tickets as soon as and I need to book a table for the meal at some point soon.
Do we know where we're eating and that?
I reckon if people say if they're in, in the next week or 2 then I can start organising it a bit more.
It's still on the same date. 7th of August.
So tell me if you're coming!
LOLZ
Looks like its just you and me, Harmy :D
That'll make things simpler!
XD
YAY! More shopping time for us! I think I'll change the thread title to something eye catching.
Maybe I've not made myself clear...
EVEN IF YOU'VE ALREADY SAID YOU'LL COME, SAY YES TO CONFIRM IT NOW
I wanna try get time to buy/make some kind of wee special gifts we can all have to remember it, so bloody tell me, or I won't get you one and you'll look ridiculous sitting alone without it. Whatever it will be.
And I do want to book the meal table early, makes the whole event less stressful if I know things are sorted.
Oh..and I'm very excited! :D
seabreeze Jul 9, 2007, 13:16 If it`s still August 7th then I`m still in :) I thought the date was going to be changed though because of the price of train tickets for some of us to get to London ?
Yeah, we talked about that and then we forgot about it and then we mentioned it again and forgot about it some more, and forgot to mention it on the main board quite a lot, and really have been quite lax about the whole thing.
But hey, we're only going to do this once (its like the whole getting married thing) (or maybe twice once we actually DO achieve what we set out to do) so sod it, as long as you can cope with the overwhelmingly stupid train prices, then we'll just do it anyway.
dogbomb Jul 9, 2007, 13:31 Yes. I'm coming... as is Karen.
If it`s still August 7th then I`m still in :) I thought the date was going to be changed though because of the price of train tickets for some of us to get to London ?
Aye, it's August 7th! We were thinking of changing it but we left it too late and tickets are all at the same price now. If we do it again we'll have to try and organise earlier (though we'll probably forget and end up in the same situation :P)
Yay, looks like we're getting a crowd in. Excellent!
UnoChild Jul 9, 2007, 17:54 I was going to come, but got the impression that i wouldn't be welcome - thought it was a weight loss/dieting/food jobba type people thing. :(
If you're making an effort with healthy eating/weight loss/ weight gain then you're welcome to come innit.
UnoChild Jul 9, 2007, 19:08 I've put on a stone :hyper:
Just putting my picture up so people think you are me, doesnt mean you have put on a stone dude. :P
UnoChild Jul 9, 2007, 19:51 Fo'real? Well done!
Yep.
In the last few weeks as well I think.. might be something to do with quitting smoking. Did I tell you all about that?
LordSnot Jul 9, 2007, 20:50 No?! Well done doubly Uno!
BUMP!:siren::siren: :siren:***LAST CHANCE TO TELL US YOU ARE COMING ON THE LONDON TRIP.*** :siren::siren::siren:
If you dont have your name down by one week from today, you will be considered as not coming and wont have any fun at all that day, or in fact ever.
We can then get ourselves organised for meeting points and whatnot.
REMINDER! THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP!
dogbomb Jul 10, 2007, 17:39 Indeed. Stuff needs BOOKING UP!
ladiebird Jul 10, 2007, 20:54 i would have loved to come but i dont think there is any chance that i will be able to get the time off as we are really short staffed and trying to get weekdays off is a nightmare unless you are ment to have them off. and we have a new manager starting at the end of the month aswell.
i am rather upset as i think it would have been great to meet up and everything :vsad:
user2006 Jul 11, 2007, 15:39 I won't be able to come as I will be sitting on a plane flying home from Canadialand... dangnabbit!
Lines are now closed for the London trip.
So, thats far less than initially showed interest - but never mind, a smaller group will be more intimate and fun XD (for this, read fuck you all who couldnt be arsed, we're gonna have a great time without you anyway.)
Breezyseas and I will be booking our tickets v soon and Dog and K and H are all sorted. Uno, whether you are coming or not isnt clear, but you HAVE posted recently so I'll give you a bonus opportunity to say Yay or Nay for definite.
Secret planning discussions will now take place behind closed doors so that you people who couldnt be ARSED wont get to find out JUST what an exciting time we are going to have.
Have a nice day y'all - WE WILL!!!!
We came, we saw, we conquered, we had a corking day. I expect someone will perhaps do a write up of the experience. I would but frankly, im too busy about to be asleep to bother at the moment. Maybe tomorrow or something...
It is a shame more of you couldnt make it, (not like you didnt all have plenty of notice) but to be honest the group size was awesome in its own lifetime - and the bonus mystery guest was an excellent addition. Maybe next time eh?
safeasfuck Aug 8, 2007, 01:49 bonus mystery guest?? pray tell more
It was a bonus, and they were a mystery guest. I did a magic trick and pulled them out of my hat.
dominoid Aug 8, 2007, 17:01 So you brought a rabbit? And you kept it in your hat all the way to London? With a vegan in tow? Cruel, but hilarious :youwin:
safeasfuck Aug 8, 2007, 19:41 evil genius! did you say mmwwhhhahahahaha as you flourished said person(s) from the hat?
Actually I said "Look at this for a magic trick!"
And everyone went "ooh" and "aah" and "wow" like it was fireworks or something. Quite special.
safeasfuck Aug 8, 2007, 21:25 gah! you're not gonna spill the beans are you
seabreeze Aug 9, 2007, 18:03 It was a good day out but don`t ever buy a comfort bear if Dogbomb has done the voice !!
The surprise guest was very amusing and taller than expected.
Minx was disappointed at the lack of celebs but we saw the door that Tommy Cooper was carried out of.
I gave Dogbomb a massage :fact:
Oh man. What a day! WHAT A DAY!
I'll be writing up about my last few weeks of awesomeness when I return home tomorrow :D
dogbomb Aug 9, 2007, 22:35 It is a shame more of you couldnt make it, (not like you didnt all have plenty of notice) but to be honest the group size was awesome in its own lifetime
This is always the biggest disappointment of these things when so many people are up for it early on. Oh well, their loss. And my lips would have ached if I'd had more people to kiss anyway.
We had such a great group, especially for a bustling place like London. We'd probably have lost someone had it been bigger. Especially with our lack of direction. Pfffff...
It was a good day out but don`t ever buy a comfort bear if Dogbomb has done the voice !!GO TO SLEEP! GOOOO TOOOO SLEEEEP!
I gave Dogbomb a massage :fact:
I got a tiny erection. :fact:

I blame Harmy. My blisters are HER responsibility.

:haha::haha::haha:

Me too.
It was an ace day!
And what do you mean no celebrities? There was Bill Oddie, and that bald guy from that house show and...
... and the statues of the Gladiators *sings theme tune*
More weight loss, another meet - whatcha say?
(can I do the weight gain version this time ;) )
We'll have to do another meet fo'sho. Except next time it can be up north because I'm the only Southerner that keeps their promises and turns up. Bloody Southerners.
Oh. And next time. I'm not the leader. I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE I WAS GOING. You all deserved blisters for asking me :D
