As far as the biggies are concerned:

Little Miss Sunshine was an awesome film, but I think The Departed was a real show stopper.

Also would love to see Forest Whittaker get an Oscar - haven't seen the movie yet but I have little doubt that he diserves it.

Funny to see Borat up for an Oscar, even if it is Adapted Screenplay....

Oh yeah and the Oscars are a load of old wank supported by luvies and shallow old movie stars with nothing better to do that make tearful speeches thanking God for creating America and all that.

As with other award ceremonies, it's best to see these things as PR exercises for the industry. And though it's always good to have deserving winners, the Oscars are about major studio politics and rivalry as much as anything else.

I <3 Little Miss Sunshine. It should so win.

Was a bit surprised at the Meryl Streep nomination- I'm not denying her awesomeness, but that role (although perfectly portrayed) was somewhat lightweight.

If Scorsese doesn't win it this year I will eat my poo.

Forest Witiker might nab best actor this year. He was outstanding in Last King Of Scotland. A truly scary and at the same time really hilarious performance. But then DiCaprio has been nominated for Blood Diamond, which I have yet to see but he could have also have been nominated for his role in The Departed just as easily so he will have double kudos points at this years Oscars. You never know...

It appears that Mumble from Happy Feet hasn't received a nomination - this is outrageous !

I love the Baftas and the Oscars but always record them so I can run through the boring parts. Am disappointed that Ellen DeGeneres is hosting it though. Really hope that Scorsese and Whitaker and Mirren come away with an Oscar

I am thoroughly disappointed that Pirates of the Carribean 2 didn't warrent an entry in the Best Picture Cataguory, or Johnny Depp in the Best Actor Cataguory, but My other half thimks ir might be a case of, like Lord of the Rings, it'll be up after the release of the 3rd one. He'd better be right, is all I can say! *shakesfist*

Arent You Missing Some, Such As Costume Design And Make Up?

I Think Foriegn Film Doesnt Always Go To The Best Film, Especially If Its The Most Popular, i Think Pan's Labyrinth Might Go Against The Trend This Year Though

Yeah, I deleted a few because the post was long and people don't give two shits about "best key grip" etc.

I'd like to see Scorcese get one, Alan Arkin is deserving for the supporting actor. Although I really liked Wahlberg's character in the Departed, he doesn't deserve an oscar just for being a beligerant and foul mouthed cop.
