I've just re-watched the first one (or rather the 4th one) A New Hope for the first time in years and years, and loved it even more than I did before.

It's the first time I've seen it since the earlier episodes came out, so I spent half the movie trying to figure out how it all connected up. So I thought I'd google it and came up with wookieepedia (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page)... how cool is that?

And yep, it's the 30th Anniversary of the first one this year.

I think I'll have to get all six now and watch them in order so that I can understand it all.

Oh, and I <3 Han Solo.

Me and the missus tried to watch all 6 back to back one hungover sunday.

Failed halfway through Empire.

Frankly, I'm getting bored of starwars, I used to be a big fan, and have seen them all (including the new ones) many times. But now they are just shown back to back day in - day out on a number of channels and its just lost its appeal.

We celebrated 25 years, why bother with 30?

That's a pity. :( Somehow I've managed to go at least 10 years without seeing any of the old ones, so I'm loving them all over again.

I suppose it helps that I don't watch TV. I feel like I'm in a constant self-imposed media blockout. I read the news that I want to read online, and I buy the movies and TV series that I want to watch on DVD.

Yup, i'm sick of em too. Is there gonna be another special commemorative re-release of them all?

Edit: Probably (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars#Future_releases)

Ridiculous.

But shirly they don't bring out re-issues to please us who have alread6 got them.(except the small minority of Star War collecter problem adults}
As much as its become a franchise , i don't see the problem with letting our next generation of tacky children enjoy it in a format that they can relate too.
The first 3 (as in release form) were major classics of cinematography.
Just because you are sick of them doesn't mean that we need to withold them from our future generations who arn't even embyo's yet.

Dude, it's been re-released and remastered countless times. The remasters aren't even as good as the originals. Lucas is ruining them. :fact:

I am/was probably the biggest Star wars fan out, but I have to agree with uno et al that I am now bored with them, I'll still watch them occasionally, but with nothing like the amount of pleasure derived from it that I used to get.
I have an overwhelmingly large collection of star wars memorabilia too, which, I'm afraid to say is gonna get sold soon, cos I can't justify having it sit around gathering dust. It's a pity, but I feel like I've grown up a lot lately and It has no place in my life anymore. Let the kids have it I say, Or the geeks who are willing to pay me a small fortune for what amounts to lots of bits of plastic in a box.
