Neilson WAS funny and Airplane is an awesome film. It's just a pity that he has starred in 200 remakes of it set in different locations, and they're all shit. Watch Dracula-Dead And Loving It, if you don't believe me.

Despite his latter day crimes, Nielsen has made some of the funniest films ever (Airplane, Naked Gun 1...) and should therefore be let off. Even if some of his more recent films were steaming piles of shite, he is not annoying. He may not be funny any more, but he is not annoying.

Like John Cleese, his former moments of genius are so timeless that they will forever outlast his subsequent embarrassments. "Airplane" and particularly "Naked Gun" just would not have been the same with anyone else instead of Leslie Neilsen.

Didn't even know he was on here. Get him off right now. Naked gun alone redeems any subsequent lapses in taste, and Airplane gives him a place in heaven.

But back to the point, obviously this guy has done a lot of rubbish in his career, but you can say that about most actors.
On the strength of Naked Gun, Airplane and Fobidden Planet (classic 50s sci fi) this guy should be freed forthwith.

He even turned up in Columbo once as the murderer! Very strange watching him play the straight man to Peter Falk's maverick genius. I forget the story, but well with Columbo it was always the same wasn't it?

Leslie played some well-to-do but slimey businessman who thought he'd committed the perfect murder until along comes Columbo with his dirty mac, his cigar and his glass eye. After a few "Mrs Columbo's a big fan of yours", "Er, just one more thing!" and "Oh relax Sir you have absolutely nothing to worry about, this is just routine; you've been very kind sir"'s, Leslie Nielsen starts to get edgy and exasperated: "Look Liutenant, I'm a busy man. If you have evidence I kindly suggest you use it, otherwise I must insist you stop harrassing me"

You know the rest...but Leslie did a great job showing that he could handle serious (well, sort of) acting. Very strange to watch him play a villain, it must be said!

Yeah, up until he did Police Squad he was pretty much a serious actor, only came to comedy later in life.

He hasn't made a remotely half-decent film in over a decade. Same old shite in a different packet.

The naked gun films are hilarious

He is funny. Great in the Naked Gun films and Airplane and of course Police Squad. He was a serious actor because i've seen old films of his. U do expect him to b funny tho in them films. He also appeared in The Posedion Adventure and in an episode of M*A*S*H* He was good in The Forbidden Planet and yes i am a fan. Get him of here, he doesn't deserve to b here. More annoying people should b on here.
Leslie is the master of comedy and just to say Priscilla Presley was hot in the Naked Gun films.

Lesser known: Played lead (well) in Forbidden Planet, the most stylish and beautifully filmed "nuclear era" Sci-Fi movie ever made.

Having watched the exceedingly dire Exorcist spoof 'Repossessed' earlier this morning, I have to say that this arsewipe has only two modes of 'comedy' acting - bad and worse. He's like your pissed uncle doing his party piece at a wedding, until his carer comes along with his tranquilizers.

I'm with you hypnotoad! I'm trying my hardest to get Dolly Parton and Trent Reznor removed too (any help would be appreciated, anyone) and I'll definitely help out with Leslie Neilsen, who shouldn't be on here.

Sure he's probably been in shit films, but his style of silly comedy has me in stiches most of the time. Airplane and Naked Gun are flippin hilarious, so only 1/5.

I agree - get him the hell off here. He may have done some shit stuff (when you've done 117 films then I reckon that some are bound to be bad) but so what? He doesn't write them, he stars in them. Doing a few crap films doesn't make him annoying - I don't like the typical Julia Roberts films, but I don't find her annoying. And he isn't a media whore like some others I could mention. No reason to be here, get him off!
