drnoble Apr 17, 2003, 13:31 does anybody know of a GOOD CD -> mp3 ripper? preferably free.
I cant seem to find anything between the L33T all fancy program (that doesn't actually do anything usefull) and ones that you need a degree in computers to install :(

i like the interface for WA3 diskwriter, but i can only encode 112kb/s mp3 :(
try dbpoweramp music converter from
www.dbpoweramp.com
works for me!
MusicMatch jukebox had one last time i checked.
netniV Apr 19, 2003, 07:33 I use a program that comes with the Creative Labs sound card. It's great, definately better than winamp and MusicMatch. :)

giveadogabone Jun 21, 2003, 15:04 'Audiocatalyst' fer sure. Reliably rips almost all CDs. Has 2 modes of operation, so if it doesn't work with the standard option, you can chose another, it works slower then but better. Very good prog, unfortunately not freeware.
I use cdex and it is really good.
dogbomb Jun 21, 2003, 21:53 Exact Audio Copy (EAC):

A Tutorial:
http://www.ping.be/satcp/eac00.htm
Encoder for EAC (lame 3.92):
http://www.aslplz.com/~starscream/Lame392.zip
Use Lame 3.92 and then open EAC...
EAC -> Compression Options -> External Compression -> Additional Command Line Options:
"--alt-preset standard -Z"
Also, set EAC to "secure mode".
The BEST mp3's you will ever make ;)
nah playcentre rocks, nothing else will deal with surround speakers and you can fuck around with the levels
