does anybody know of a GOOD CD -> mp3 ripper? preferably free.

I cant seem to find anything between the L33T all fancy program (that doesn't actually do anything usefull) and ones that you need a degree in computers to install :(

I use a program that comes with the Creative Labs sound card. It's great, definately better than winamp and MusicMatch. :)

'Audiocatalyst' fer sure. Reliably rips almost all CDs. Has 2 modes of operation, so if it doesn't work with the standard option, you can chose another, it works slower then but better. Very good prog, unfortunately not freeware.

Exact Audio Copy (EAC):
http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/eac6.html

A Tutorial:
http://www.ping.be/satcp/eac00.htm

Encoder for EAC (lame 3.92):
http://www.aslplz.com/~starscream/Lame392.zip

Use Lame 3.92 and then open EAC...
EAC -> Compression Options -> External Compression -> Additional Command Line Options:
"--alt-preset standard -Z"

Also, set EAC to "secure mode".

The BEST mp3's you will ever make ;)
